The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chocked - the electronic parking brake is integrated and may not release without power
- Attempt to power on the vehicle by pressing the START button with the key card present
- If the vehicle powers on (even to accessory mode), press and hold the brake pedal, then tap the shifter forward or backward to cycle to Neutral position - indicator will show 'N' on the instrument cluster
- If completely dead with no 12V power, access the mechanical shift-lock override: look for a small circular or rectangular cover cap on the center console near the shifter base, typically on the right side or front edge
