The procedure
- Set the electronic parking brake if it responds, or chock the wheels securely
- Attempt to power on the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal and pushing the start button - even with a depleted 12V battery, a jump pack or jumper cables connected to the 12V battery may provide enough power
- Once the vehicle powers on, press the brake pedal and select Neutral (N) using the transmission selector
- If the 12V system cannot be powered at all, the transmission will remain locked in Park electronically with no mechanical override accessible to the operator
- For complete 12V failure, the vehicle must be placed on a flatbed truck with all wheels off the ground, or the 12V battery must be charged/replaced before moving
