The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional
- Attempt to power on the vehicle with the START button while pressing the brake pedal
- If the 12V battery is functional, rotate the gear selector to Neutral (N)
- If the selector is locked and will not rotate, locate the small circular override cap on the right side of the center console near the gear selector base
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the override cap
- Insert the physical emergency key or a small screwdriver into the override slot and press down while attempting to rotate the selector to N
- If successful, the vehicle can now roll; do NOT start the high-voltage system for towing

With zero electrical power
With a completely dead 12V battery, the rotary selector and electronic parking brake will not function.
