The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chock all wheels securely
- Turn the ignition to ON position if 12V power is available (do not start engine)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- The shift-lock override slot is located beneath a small rectangular cover cap on the center console near the shifter base—use a small flathead screwdriver or key to pry off the cap
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down while moving the shifter stalk to neutral
- If no electrical power: you must jump-start the 12V battery (located in trunk, right side) to power the electronic shifter and release the electronic parking brake—without 12V power the transmission cannot be shifted
- Once in neutral, the electronic parking brake must also be released (requires 12V power); if battery is completely dead, the vehicle cannot roll and must be lifted/dollied onto flatbed
