🚨 2000 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph: Emergency Neutral

The 2000 Silver Seraph uses a traditional column-mounted automatic shifter lever with a mechanical shift-lock mechanism.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional.
  2. Locate the shift-lock override slot, typically found near the base of the column shifter shroud or directly on the shifter gate assembly.
  3. Look for a small cover or trim cap that can be pried off with a small flathead screwdriver or the ignition key blade.
  4. Remove the cover to expose the shift-lock override button or slot.
  5. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter toward you and moving it to Neutral.
  6. Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be moved or loaded onto a flatbed.
Shift-lock override location
Near the base of the column shifter assembly, typically covered by a small removable cap or trim piece on the shifter shroud.
With zero electrical power
The Silver Seraph uses a mechanical shift-lock that is typically cable-actuated from the brake pedal switch. With zero electrical power, the override should still function mechanically. Ensure the key is in the ignition and turned to at least the ACC position if any residual power exists. If the override does not work, the steering column shroud may need to be partially removed to access the shift-lock mechanism directly.
