The procedure
- Engage the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Locate the shift lock override cover—it's a small rectangular cap on the left side of the shifter base, adjacent to the shifter button side.
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the shift lock override cover.
- With the cover removed, you'll see a small slot or button mechanism inside.
- Insert a small screwdriver or similar tool into the slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the shifter button and moving the shifter to Neutral.
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, the shift lock override will still work mechanically—no electrical power is required for this override function.
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be pushed or loaded onto a flatbed.
