🚨 2024 Tesla Cybertruck: Emergency Neutral
The 2024 Tesla Cybertruck uses a touchscreen-based drive selector with swipe gestures and automatic park engagement when the door opens.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure wheels are chocked - the Cybertruck is extremely heavy (6000-7000+ lbs)
- If the 12V battery has any charge, attempt to power on the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal
- On the center touchscreen, swipe down on the drive mode indicator at the top of the screen to access the drive selector
- Select Neutral from the drive mode menu
- Enable Transport Mode: Go to Service menu, then Towing, then enable Transport Mode - this keeps the vehicle in Neutral and disables parking brake auto-engagement
- If the touchscreen is completely unresponsive (dead 12V battery), you must jump-start the 12V system or replace the 12V battery to access any controls
- The 12V battery access requires removing lower front fascia panels - this is NOT a roadside procedure
- For dead 12V: Contact Tesla Roadside Assistance or use a flatbed with wheel dollies - do NOT attempt to dolly or tow with wheels on ground without Transport Mode active
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, there is NO mechanical override to shift to Neutral. The Cybertruck requires functional 12V power to access any drive mode controls. The 12V battery is located under the vehicle and requires panel removal to access for jump-starting. A flatbed tow truck with wheel dollies or a full rollback is required if 12V power cannot be restored.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
CRITICAL: Never tow a Cybertruck with drive wheels on the ground without Transport Mode enabled - this will cause severe damage to the drive units. The vehicle weighs 6000-7000+ lbs and requires heavy-duty flatbed equipment. Transport Mode must remain active during the entire towing process. If Transport Mode deactivates (12V dies during tow), STOP immediately.
