🚨 2002 Toyota Supra: Emergency Neutral
The 2002 Supra uses a traditional console-mounted automatic shifter with a T-handle and electronic shift lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly set and the vehicle is on level ground.
- Turn the ignition key to ACC or ON position if battery has any charge remaining.
- Locate the shift lock override slot—it is a small covered slot near the shifter base on the console.
- Remove the small plastic cover cap (may require prying with a flat screwdriver).
- While pressing the brake pedal (if power available) or with ignition on, insert a flat-head screwdriver or the key into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, move the shifter from Park to Neutral.
- If the shifter won't move, verify you're pressing the override fully and try slight forward pressure on the shifter simultaneously.
Shift-lock override location
Near the shifter base on the center console; typically a small capped rectangular slot to the side or front of the shifter assembly.
With zero electrical power
With zero power, the shift lock may still be mechanically engaged. The override slot allows mechanical bypass, but you must have the ignition key in at least the ACC position to unlock the steering. If the battery is completely dead and you cannot turn the key to ACC, you may need to jump the battery minimally or manually push with the key forced to ACC (steering will remain locked otherwise, making flatbed the only option).
