Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Ensure engine is cool to the touch if vehicle has been recently operated

4. If desired, apply masking tape to painted surfaces adjacent to grille work area to protect finish

Procedure

   Access grille mounting area
   Inspect the front grille/fascia opening from the front of the vehicle and from underneath. Verify access points against the factory service manual before removing fasteners. The 1992 Viper RT/10 uses a low front fascia air intake opening rather than a conventional bolt-on grille; verify the exact grille/screen configuration against the factory service manual before proceeding. Identify the mounting points along the top edge behind the front fascia lip and any lower retention points.

   Remove upper grille mounting fasteners
   Locate and remove the upper grille mounting screws along the top edge of the grille assembly. These are typically Phillips-head screws accessible from the front or from above through the hood opening. Remove the upper mounting screws (exact count to be verified against the factory service manual), working from one side to the other.

   Remove lower grille mounting fasteners
   From below the front fascia, locate the lower grille mounting fasteners. These may be screws or clips securing the bottom edge of the grille; verify the exact fastener type and count against the factory service manual before removal. Remove these fasteners carefully, noting their positions for reinstallation.

   Release grille side retention points
   Check the left and right sides of the grille assembly for side mounting tabs or clips that engage with the front fascia. These may be snap-fit clips that require gentle prying with a trim tool to release. Apply even pressure to avoid breaking the clips.

   Remove grille assembly
   With all fasteners and clips released, carefully pull the grille assembly forward and away from the front fascia. Support the grille as you remove it to prevent dropping. Inspect the mounting points on both the grille and the fascia for damage or worn clips.

   Inspect and prepare mounting surfaces
   Clean the mounting surfaces on the front fascia where the grille attaches. Remove any debris, old adhesive residue, or damaged clips. Inspect all mounting tabs and holes for cracks or damage that could affect new grille fitment.

   Position new grille assembly
   Align the new grille assembly with the mounting points on the front fascia. Ensure all mounting tabs are properly aligned with their corresponding holes or slots. Press the grille gently into position, verifying that side clips engage properly.

   Install lower grille mounting fasteners
   Install the lower mounting fasteners first to stabilize the grille. If using push-pin clips, press them in firmly until they click into place. If using screws, hand-tighten them first before final torquing.

    Verify grille alignment and fitment

Reassembly

1. Installation is performed in steps 7-10 above
2. Ensure all mounting screws are torqued to specification to prevent rattling or loosening during vehicle operation
3. Remove any protective tape or coverings applied during preparation

Verification

• Visually inspect grille alignment with surrounding fascia panels from multiple angles, ensuring even gaps on all sides
• Gently press on the grille at multiple points to confirm it is securely mounted with no excessive movement
• Verify all mounting fasteners are present and properly tightened
• Close and open hood to ensure no interference with grille assembly
