Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Ensure radio is off and key is removed
3. Clean area around antenna base to prevent debris from falling into headliner cavity

Procedure

1. 1

   Access interior headliner
   Open the driver's door and identify the overhead console area near the windshield header. The antenna cable routing runs through the headliner on the driver's side near the A-pillar area.

   Remove overhead trim components
   Carefully pry down the headliner trim panel near the antenna base location using plastic trim removal tools. Work around the perimeter to release the retaining clips. On the 2008 Viper, the antenna is located on the rear roof section, so access the headliner in the area behind the seats. The trim panel is held by push-pin style clips along the edges.

   Locate antenna mounting hardware
   From inside the cabin, locate the antenna cable connection and mounting nuts. The antenna base is secured from the top side through the roof, with access nuts visible from below once the headliner is lowered. Identify the coaxial cable connection at the base of the antenna assembly.

   Disconnect antenna cable
   Unplug the coaxial antenna cable from the base of the antenna assembly by pulling straight down on the connector. Note the routing path of the cable for reinstallation.

   Remove antenna mounting nuts
   Using a 10mm socket and extension, remove the mounting nuts securing the antenna base to the roof. There are typically 3 mounting studs arranged in a triangular pattern around the antenna base. Support the antenna mast from the exterior while removing the final nut to prevent it from falling.

   Remove antenna assembly from exterior
   Go to the exterior of the vehicle and carefully lift the antenna mast and base assembly up and away from the roof. Remove the old gasket from the roof surface and clean any debris or old sealant residue with a shop towel.

   Install new antenna gasket
   Position the new antenna base gasket onto the roof mounting studs, ensuring proper alignment with the mounting holes. The gasket prevents water intrusion and must be seated flat against the roof surface.

   Install antenna assembly
   From the exterior, insert the new antenna mast and base assembly through the roof opening, aligning the mounting studs with the holes. Ensure the gasket remains properly positioned and the cable grommet seats correctly in the roof opening.

   Secure antenna mounting nuts
   From inside the vehicle, thread the 3 mounting nuts onto the studs by hand, then tighten in a star pattern using the 10mm socket. Tighten evenly to compress the gasket uniformly and prevent water leaks. Snug the nuts firmly but do not overtighten, as this can deform the base or crack the roof finish.

    Reconnect antenna cable
    Push the coaxial cable connector firmly onto the base of the antenna assembly until it clicks into place. Ensure the connection is secure and the cable routing matches the original path to prevent pinching when the headliner is reinstalled.

    Reinstall headliner trim
    Align the headliner trim panel with its mounting location and press firmly around all edges to engage the retaining clips. Verify all clips are fully seated and the trim sits flush with surrounding surfaces.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all headliner trim clips are fully engaged before testing
2. Verify antenna mast is vertical and secure before road testing

• Turn on the radio and check AM and FM reception across multiple stations to confirm proper antenna function
• Visually inspect the antenna base from exterior to ensure gasket is properly compressed with no gaps
• Check headliner trim for proper fit with no sagging or loose areas
• Inspect for water leaks during next car wash or rain event
