Remove and replace the interior door panel on a 2008 Dodge Viper to access internal door components, window regulators, or door latch mechanisms.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake

Procedure

   Remove door pull handle trim
   Locate the door pull/armrest assembly. Remove the Torx fasteners securing the pull handle trim piece. On the Viper, remove any fasteners in the pull cup recess; verify the exact count and Torx/driver size against factory documentation before removal. Remove these fasteners and set aside. The trim piece may still be retained by clips; gently pry to release.

   Remove interior door handle bezel
   Locate the interior door release handle. Remove the fastener behind the door handle (access by pulling handle open); verify fastener count and driver size against factory documentation. Once fastener is removed, slide the bezel forward or toward the front of the vehicle to disengage it from the door panel, then lift away. Disconnect any electrical connector for door handle lighting if equipped.

   Remove window switch assembly
   Pry up the window switch assembly from the armrest using a trim tool. Start at the rear edge and work forward. Once the switch assembly is free, disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling straight out. Set the switch assembly aside in a safe location.

   Remove door panel perimeter fasteners
   Locate and remove all Torx screws around the door panel perimeter. Check the lower edge of the panel, the rear vertical edge near the door latch striker, and along the armrest mounting area. Verify the exact count, locations, and driver size of perimeter door-panel screws against factory documentation for the 2008 Viper before removal. Use a flashlight to verify all fasteners are located and removed.

   Release door panel retaining clips
   With all fasteners removed, grasp the door panel firmly at the bottom edge. Pull straight outward with steady, even pressure to disengage the plastic retaining clips from the door frame. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing clips progressively. Do not force upward or twist, as this increases clip breakage risk. Verify the exact number and locations of retaining clips against factory documentation for the 2008 Viper.

   Disconnect door latch rod and remove panel
   Once the panel is free from clips, lift it upward slightly to clear the window sill area. Reach behind the panel and disconnect the door latch/release linkage from the interior door handle mechanism as applicable to this vehicle. Verify whether the interior release uses a rod or a cable and release it per its retainer type before pulling the panel fully away. Carefully pull the panel away from the door and set it face-down on a protected surface.

   Inspect and replace damaged clips
   Examine all retaining clips on the back of the door panel and the corresponding receptacles in the door frame. Replace any broken or damaged clips by removing the old clip base and snapping in a new OEM-specification clip. Ensure clips are fully seated in the panel before reinstallation.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect door latch rod to interior handle mechanism and verify secure engagement
2. Align door panel with window sill and door frame, ensuring no wiring is pinched behind panel
3. Press firmly around entire panel perimeter to seat all retaining clips into door frame receptacles
4. Install all perimeter Torx screws and tighten securely but do not over-torque into plastic
5. Reconnect window switch electrical connector and press switch assembly into armrest until fully seated
6. Install interior door handle bezel by sliding rearward into position and securing with T20 Torx screw
7. Install door pull handle trim and secure with T20 Torx screws
8. Reconnect negative battery terminal
9. Test all door functions: window operation, interior handle release, power locks if equipped, and verify no rattles or loose components

Verification

• Operate window up and down through full travel to confirm no binding or interference with door panel
• Open and close door using interior handle to verify latch rod connection is secure
• Press on door panel at multiple points around perimeter to confirm all clips are fully engaged with no loose areas
• Test power window and lock switches for proper operation
• Visually inspect panel alignment with door frame and adjacent trim pieces
