Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and apply parking brake

   Using the appropriate socket and ratchet, loosen the bolt(s) securing the exhaust tip clamp (confirm exact count and head size against OEM specification). These bolts typically secure a band-style clamp around the joint. Work slowly if resistance is high to avoid rounding bolt heads or breaking studs. If a fastener will not budge, apply heat carefully with a propane torch (if safe to do so) or apply more penetrating oil and wait.

   Remove clamp fasteners
   Remove both bolts completely from the clamp assembly. Set bolts aside and inspect threads for damage. If threads are severely corroded or damaged, replacement hardware will be needed during installation.

   Remove exhaust tip
   Slide the clamp assembly off the joint. Grasp the exhaust tip firmly and twist while pulling to break it free from the muffler outlet pipe. The tip may be stuck due to carbon buildup and corrosion. Work it back and forth with a twisting motion until it releases. Remove the tip completely from the vehicle.

   Inspect and clean mating surfaces
   Examine the muffler outlet pipe where the tip was mounted. Use a wire brush to clean carbon deposits, rust, and old gasket material from the outer diameter of the pipe. Inspect for damage, cracks, or excessive corrosion that might affect the seal or connection of the new tip.

   Prepare new exhaust tip
   Inspect the new exhaust tip for shipping damage and verify correct fitment. Apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound to the inner diameter of the tip inlet where it will slide over the muffler outlet pipe. This will aid future removal and prevent seizing.

   Install new exhaust tip
   Slide the new exhaust tip onto the muffler outlet pipe. Ensure it is fully seated and oriented correctly (outlet direction should match original installation). Position the tip so it sits properly within the rear fascia cutout with adequate clearance to bodywork.

   Install clamp assembly
   Position the clamp assembly over the joint between the muffler outlet pipe and exhaust tip. Align the clamp bolt holes and thread both bolts finger-tight. Ensure the clamp is centered on the joint before tightening.

    Tighten clamp fasteners
    Tighten the 2 clamp bolts evenly in an alternating pattern using the 13mm socket. Tighten the clamp bolt(s) to the OEM-specified torque (verify against factory service documentation), or until the clamp is snug and the joint is secure without crushing the pipe. Verify the tip does not rotate or slide with hand pressure.

    Verify tip alignment and clearance
    Check that the exhaust tip has adequate clearance from all body panels and the rear fascia edges. The tip should be centered in the rear fascia cutout and not touching any painted surfaces. Adjust position if needed by loosening clamp slightly, repositioning, and retightening.

Reassembly

1. Lower vehicle from jack stands using floor jack
2. Remove jack stands and lower vehicle completely to ground
3. Remove wheel chocks
4. If both sides require exhaust tip replacement, repeat procedure on opposite side

Verification

• Start engine and allow to idle, listening for exhaust leaks at the tip connection
• Check for visible exhaust gases escaping from the joint during idle and light throttle application
• Visually inspect tip alignment and clearance to body panels with engine running (vibration may reveal contact points)
• After a short test drive, recheck clamp fastener tightness and tip alignment once exhaust has cooled
• Verify no rattles or contact noises from tip touching bodywork during driving
