Floor Mat Hooks

Installation of factory or aftermarket floor mat retention hooks into the driver and/or passenger side floor carpet anchor points on a 2008 Dodge Viper.

• Floor mat hook/retention clip (driver side) × 1 — Mopar OEM floor mat hook or aftermarket equivalent
• Floor mat hook/retention clip (passenger side) × 1 — Mopar OEM floor mat hook or aftermarket equivalent

Preparation

1. Remove existing floor mats from both driver and passenger footwells
2. Inspect carpet in driver and passenger footwells for existing hook anchor points, reinforced grommets, or factory retention hardware
3. Clean any debris or dirt from the carpet surface where hooks will be installed

Procedure

   Locate driver side floor mat anchor point
   On the driver side footwell, check for any floor mat anchor point. Note that the 2008 Viper's minimalist interior generally does NOT include factory floor mat retention anchors, so an anchor point may not be present. If none exists, an aftermarket hook or grommet-style retainer must be added at a location that does not interfere with pedal operation.

   Install driver side floor mat hook
   If a factory threaded anchor or receiver is present in the carpet, thread the floor mat hook clockwise by hand until seated flush against the carpet surface. If installing a press-fit style hook into a grommet, align the hook post with the grommet opening and press firmly until the retaining tabs engage. For twist-lock style hooks, insert the hook base into the anchor point and rotate approximately 90 degrees to the locked position per the hook manufacturer's instructions. Verify the hook is secure by pulling upward with moderate force.

   Locate passenger side floor mat anchor point
   On the passenger side footwell, check for any floor mat anchor point. As with the driver side, the 2008 Viper generally does not include a factory retention anchor here, so an aftermarket retainer may be required.

   Install passenger side floor mat hook
   Install the passenger side hook using the same method as the driver side, matching the hook type to the anchor style present in the carpet. Thread, press, or twist-lock the hook into place depending on the design. Verify secure engagement by pulling upward with moderate force.

Reassembly

1. Place floor mats back into position in both footwells
2. Engage the mat retention grommet or eyelet on each mat with the installed hooks
3. Verify mats are fully seated and cannot slide forward toward the pedals

Verification

• Confirm both driver and passenger floor mat hooks are securely installed and do not pull free under moderate tension
• Verify floor mats engage properly with hooks and remain in position without sliding
• Ensure driver side mat does not interfere with accelerator, brake, or clutch pedal operation through full travel
