Fog Light Assembly

Removes and replaces the fog light assembly on a 2008 Dodge Viper, including disconnecting the electrical connector and releasing the mounting hardware from the front fascia.

• Fog light bulb (if not included with assembly) × 1 — H10 or equivalent per OEM spec

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Turn ignition off and remove key
3. Allow engine to cool if recently operated
4. Turn front wheels to full lock (left or right depending on which fog light is being replaced) to improve access to wheel well liner
5. Disconnect negative battery terminal to prevent accidental electrical short during fog light removal

Procedure

   Access fog light from wheel well
   From inside the front wheel well on the side being serviced, locate the wheel well liner. Remove the plastic push clips securing the rear portion of the wheel well liner to access the rear of the fog light assembly. There are typically 3-4 push clips along the liner edge. Use a flathead trim tool to pry the center pin of each push clip up, then remove the entire clip. Fold the liner back to expose the fog light housing from behind.

   Disconnect fog light electrical connector
   Reach behind the fog light assembly and locate the electrical connector attached to the bulb socket or assembly harness. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull it straight off the fog light. If the connector is tight, gently wiggle it while pulling to avoid damaging the terminals.

   Remove fog light mounting fasteners from front
   From the front of the vehicle, locate the fog light assembly visible in the lower front fascia opening. The fog light is secured by 2 mounting fasteners accessed from the front face. Remove these fasteners using a 10mm socket or appropriate driver. Support the fog light assembly with one hand while removing the final fastener to prevent it from falling.

   Remove fog light assembly
   With all mounting fasteners removed and electrical connector disconnected, carefully pull the fog light assembly forward and out of the front fascia opening. If the assembly resists, check for any remaining clips or fasteners that may have been missed. Note the orientation and position of any gaskets or seals attached to the fog light housing for proper reinstallation.

   Inspect and prepare new fog light assembly
   Inspect the mounting area in the fascia for any debris, damage, or corrosion. Clean the mounting surface if necessary. Transfer any gaskets, seals, or retaining clips from the old assembly to the new one if they are not included with the replacement part. If replacing only the bulb, remove the bulb from the old housing by twisting the socket counterclockwise and pulling it out, then install the new bulb into the housing.

   Install new fog light assembly
   Position the new fog light assembly into the front fascia opening, ensuring proper orientation (typically with the electrical connector socket facing toward the wheel well). Align the mounting holes in the assembly with the corresponding holes in the fascia. Insert and hand-tighten the 2 front mounting fasteners, then snug them down with a 10mm socket. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the fog light housing or fascia.

   Reconnect electrical connector and verify
   Reach behind the fog light assembly from the wheel well and reconnect the electrical connector to the fog light, ensuring it clicks into place and locks securely. Gently tug on the connector to confirm it is seated properly.

   Reinstall wheel well liner
   Reposition the wheel well liner to its original location, aligning the mounting holes. Reinstall all push clips by inserting the clip body into the hole, then pressing the center pin down until it is flush with the clip body. Ensure the liner is secure and does not interfere with tire movement through full steering lock.

   Reconnect battery and test fog lights
   Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition to the ON position (engine does not need to be running) and activate the fog lights per the vehicle's fog light switch operation (typically requires parking lights or low-beam headlights on). Verify that the newly installed fog light illuminates properly and that the beam pattern is correct. If the light does not function, recheck the electrical connector and bulb installation.

Reassembly

1. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
2. Verify wheel well liner is properly secured and does not contact the tire during steering
3. Test fog light operation before returning vehicle to service

• Activate fog lights with ignition on and verify both fog lights illuminate
• Inspect for proper beam alignment and pattern from outside the vehicle
• Check that the fog light assembly is secure with no rattles or movement
• Confirm wheel well liner is properly reinstalled and does not interfere with wheel movement
