Heated Seat Module

Replace the heated seat module on a 2008 Dodge Viper by accessing it from underneath the affected seat, disconnecting the wiring harness, and installing the new module.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake.
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 2 minutes for airbag system to discharge.
3. Move affected seat fully forward to access rear mounting bolts, then fully rearward to access front mounting bolts.
4. Allow heated seat to cool if recently used.

Procedure

   Remove seat from vehicle
   Locate the four seat mounting bolts at the base of the seat track assembly. Remove the seat mounting bolts securing the seat to the floor rails (verify exact count and drive type for the 2008 Viper seat before starting). Tilt the seat back slightly to access the wiring harness connections underneath.

   Disconnect seat electrical connectors
   Locate the main seat harness connector(s) under the seat. Press the release tab(s) and disconnect all electrical connectors including power, ground, and heated seat control connectors. If an occupant-detection/airbag connector is present, note its yellow airbag-circuit locking mechanism and handle per airbag safety procedures. Note the routing and connector positions for reinstallation. Remove the seat from the vehicle and place on a clean work surface.

   Access heated seat module
   With the seat on a work surface, flip it upside down or tilt it to access the underside. Locate the heated seat module, which is typically a rectangular control unit mounted to the seat frame or attached to the seat cushion underside with a wiring harness connecting to the heating element pads. Remove any protective covers or trim shields that may be present by releasing clips or removing fasteners.

   Disconnect module connectors
   Identify the wiring connections to the heated seat module. There will typically be a power/control input connector and one or two output connectors to the heating element pads in the seat cushion and seat back. Press the release tabs and carefully disconnect all connectors from the module. Inspect the connectors for corrosion or damage.

   Remove heated seat module mounting fasteners
   Locate the 2-3 fasteners securing the heated seat module to the seat frame or mounting bracket. Remove these fasteners using the appropriate Torx bit. Note the orientation and mounting position of the module for proper installation of the replacement.

   Remove heated seat module
   Carefully remove the heated seat module from its mounting location. Inspect the mounting area for any damage or debris. Clean the mounting surface if necessary.

   Install new heated seat module
   Position the new heated seat module in the same orientation as the original. Align the module with the mounting holes and secure it with the original fasteners. Ensure the module is firmly seated and does not interfere with seat movement or other components.

   Connect module wiring harnesses
   Reconnect all wiring harnesses to the new heated seat module. Ensure each connector clicks firmly into place and the release tabs engage properly. Verify that power input and heating element output connections are secure. Apply electrical contact cleaner to connections if needed.

   Reinstall seat access covers
   Replace any protective covers or trim shields removed during disassembly. Ensure all clips are fully seated and any fasteners are properly tightened.

    Reinstall seat in vehicle
    Carefully position the seat assembly over the floor mounting points. Reconnect all electrical connectors under the seat, ensuring proper routing and that connectors are fully engaged. Lower the seat onto the mounting rails and align the bolt holes.

    Secure seat mounting bolts
    Install and tighten the 4 Torx seat mounting bolts. Tighten in a cross pattern to ensure even seating. Verify the seat is firmly secured to the floor and all bolts are fully tightened.

    Reconnect battery and test system
    Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start engine). Test the heated seat function by activating the seat heater switch. Allow 2-3 minutes for the seat to begin warming, and verify both the cushion and backrest heating elements warm up (confirm the specific heated-seat configuration for this Viper). Check for any warning lights on the instrument cluster.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all electrical connectors are fully seated with release tabs engaged.
2. Verify seat moves freely on tracks in all positions without binding or interference.
3. Confirm all seat mounting bolts are tightened and seat is secure to floor.
4. Test heated seat operation at multiple heat settings if available.

Verification

• Operate heated seat switch and verify heating elements warm up within 2-3 minutes.
• Check that both seat cushion and seat back heat properly (if dual-zone).
• Verify no warning lights are present on instrument cluster related to seat systems.
• Ensure seat adjustments (forward/back, recline) operate normally without interference.
• Confirm all electrical connectors under seat are secure and properly routed.
