Remove and replace the side mirror assembly on a 2008 Dodge Viper, including disconnecting the electrical harness and installing a new or replacement mirror unit.

   Locate the mirror mounting fasteners securing the mirror base to the door frame (typically 2 to 3). These are accessible through the opening revealed by the trim cover. Confirm the exact fastener count and drive type against the 2008 Dodge Viper service manual, then remove all fasteners completely and set them aside.

   Support the mirror from the outside with one hand. Carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door, ensuring the electrical connector (if equipped) is fully disconnected and not binding.    Install mirror mounting fasteners
   Install all mirror mounting fasteners through the mirror base and into the door frame. Thread them by hand initially to ensure proper alignment. Tighten the fasteners in a cross pattern to ensure even gasket compression and proper mirror seating. Tighten firmly but do not overtighten to avoid cracking the mirror base.

   Connect electrical harness
   If equipped with power mirrors, connect the mirror electrical connector to the vehicle harness. Ensure the connector locks fully with an audible click. Verify no wires are pinched between the door panel and mirror base.

    Reinstall interior trim cover
    Position the triangular interior trim cover over the mirror base mounting area. Align all push clip locations with their corresponding holes in the door panel. Press firmly around the perimeter of the cover until all clips snap into place and the cover sits flush with the door panel.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
2. Verify the interior trim cover is fully seated with no gaps
3. Check that mirror assembly is firmly mounted with no movement or play

Verification

• If equipped with power mirrors, turn ignition to accessory position and test mirror adjustment in all directions (up, down, left, right) to confirm electrical operation
• If equipped with heated mirrors, test heat function by running vehicle for several minutes with rear defrost activated
• Visually inspect mirror from outside vehicle to ensure proper alignment and positioning relative to opposite mirror
• Check for any wind noise or vibration at highway speed during test drive
• Verify interior trim cover remains secure after several door open/close cycles
