Seat - Front

Remove and replace the front seat assembly on a 2008 Dodge Viper, including disconnecting electrical connectors and unbolting the seat from the floor rails.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake.
2. Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait at least 2 minutes before proceeding.
3. Move seat to full forward position to access rear mounting bolts.
4. Take photos of electrical connector routing under seat for reinstallation reference.

Procedure

   Access rear seat mounting bolts
   With the seat moved fully forward, locate the two rear seat mounting bolts on the seat rails securing the seat rails to the floor brackets. Confirm the exact fastener head type before selecting a tool. Remove both rear mounting bolts completely and set aside. Note: Torque all seat mounting bolts to the OEM specification (verify exact value in service documentation before final tightening); do not simply guess or tighten firmly, as these are safety-critical restraint fasteners.

   Access front seat mounting bolts
   Slide the seat fully rearward to expose the front mounting bolts. Locate the two front mounting bolts on the seat rails, confirming the exact fastener head type. Remove both front mounting bolts completely.

   Disconnect seat electrical connectors
   Tilt the seat backward carefully to access the underside. Locate any electrical connectors present under the seat, such as seat belt tension/occupant sensor or side airbag connectors (if equipped). Press the locking tab on each connector and disconnect all electrical connections. Note the routing of the wiring harness.

   Remove seat assembly from vehicle
   With all four mounting bolts removed and electrical connectors disconnected, carefully lift the seat assembly up and out of the vehicle. Tilt the seat as needed to clear the door opening and steering wheel. Have an assistant help if available due to seat weight and awkward angle through the door.

Reassembly

1. Position the new or serviced seat assembly into the vehicle, tilting as needed to clear the door opening.
2. Connect all electrical connectors under the seat, ensuring each locks into place with an audible click. Verify wiring harness routing matches the photos taken during disassembly.
3. Install the front two T50 Torx mounting bolts finger-tight into the floor brackets.
4. Slide the seat rearward and install the rear two T50 Torx mounting bolts finger-tight.
5. Tighten all four mounting bolts in a cross pattern (front left, rear right, front right, rear left) to secure the seat. Torque specifications are not available in the database; tighten firmly.
6. Reconnect the battery negative terminal.
7. Test seat electrical functions (if power seat) and verify seat is secure by attempting to rock it in all directions.

Verification

• Attempt to move the seat forward and backward; it should slide smoothly on the rails without binding or looseness in the mounting points.
• If equipped with power seat, verify all adjustment functions operate correctly (fore/aft, recline, lumbar if applicable).
• Rock the seat firmly in all directions to confirm all four mounting bolts are tight and the seat does not move independently of the rails.
• Verify no airbag warning lights appear on the instrument cluster after reconnecting the battery.
