Sun Visor

Remove and replace the driver or passenger sun visor on a 2008 Dodge Viper by removing the visor pivot bracket fasteners and disconnecting any electrical connectors if equipped with vanity lighting.

Preparation

1. Identify which sun visor (driver or passenger side) requires replacement
2. If equipped with vanity lighting, ensure ignition is off to avoid accidental short circuits

Procedure

1. 1

   Lower the sun visor
   Rotate the sun visor down to the fully lowered position to access the mounting hardware at the pivot bracket.

   Remove visor trim cover
   Locate the plastic trim cover on the sun visor mounting bracket at the headliner. Carefully pry or slide the cover away from the bracket to expose the mounting fasteners. Some covers may slide off the bracket while others may require gentle prying with a trim tool.

   Disconnect vanity light connector (if equipped)
   If the visor has a vanity mirror with lighting, locate the electrical connector at the base of the visor bracket. Press the connector release tab and carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the visor. If no vanity lighting is present, skip this step.
   ⚠Support the visor while disconnecting to prevent it from falling and damaging the connector.

   Remove visor mounting fasteners
   Remove the sun visor pivot bracket mounting screws (typically 2) securing the bracket to the headliner and roof structure; verify the exact count and driver type (Phillips or Torx) against OEM documentation. Support the visor assembly as you remove the final fastener to prevent it from falling.

   Remove sun visor assembly
   Lower the visor assembly away from the headliner. If a support rod or secondary mounting clip is present at the opposite end of the visor, disengage it by rotating the visor clip out of its retaining bracket; note the Viper's compact cabin may not use a secondary clip, so verify against the actual assembly.

   Install new sun visor assembly
   Position the new sun visor assembly to the headliner, aligning the mounting bracket holes with the roof structure. If equipped with a support rod or secondary clip, engage it into the windshield pillar bracket first to help support the visor during installation.

   Install visor mounting fasteners
   Install the visor pivot bracket mounting screws (typically 2) through the bracket into the roof structure; verify exact count and driver type against OEM documentation. Tighten the screws evenly and firmly, but do not overtighten as the headliner backing may compress or crack.

   Reconnect vanity light connector (if equipped)
   If the visor has vanity lighting, reconnect the electrical connector to the visor wiring harness. Ensure the connector locks fully into place with an audible click.

   Reinstall visor trim cover
   Slide or snap the plastic trim cover back onto the visor mounting bracket, ensuring it is fully seated and covers all mounting hardware.

Reassembly

1. Installation is the reverse of removal, following steps 6 through 9
2. Ensure all mounting screws are snug but not overtightened to avoid damaging the headliner material

Verification

• Rotate the sun visor through its full range of motion to ensure smooth operation at both pivot points
• If equipped with vanity lighting, flip open the vanity mirror cover and verify the light illuminates properly
• Check that the visor stays in place when positioned and does not sag or rattle
• Verify the trim cover is fully seated and secure on the mounting bracket
