Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake.
2. Turn ignition to OFF position and remove key.

4. Adjust steering wheel to lowest tilt position for easier access to upper steering column cover.

Procedure

   Remove lower steering column cover
   Locate the fasteners securing the lower steering column cover. Remove the Torx screws (typically 2 screws) securing the lower cover to the column. Gently pull the lower cover away from the column, disengaging any retaining clips, and set aside. Note: Torx driver set (T15/T20/T25) — verify exact size on vehicle

   Remove upper steering column cover
   With the lower cover removed, locate the fasteners for the upper steering column cover. Remove the Torx screws (typically 2 screws) securing the upper cover. Carefully lift the upper cover up and away from the steering column, being mindful of the ignition cylinder opening, and set aside.

   Access multi-function switch
   With both steering column covers removed, the multi-function switch assembly is now visible on the left side of the steering column. Use a flashlight to identify the wiring harness connectors and mounting hardware.

   Disconnect wiring harness connectors
   Locate the electrical connector(s) at the base of the multi-function switch. Press the locking tab(s) on each connector and carefully pull the connector(s) straight back to disconnect from the switch. Note the routing of the wiring harness for reinstallation.

   Remove multi-function switch mounting fasteners
   Locate the 2 Torx screws securing the multi-function switch assembly to the steering column. Remove both screws completely and retain them for reinstallation.

   Remove multi-function switch assembly
   With mounting screws removed and connectors disconnected, carefully lift the multi-function switch assembly away from its mounting position on the steering column housing. Remove the switch completely from the vehicle.

   Install new multi-function switch
   Position the new multi-function switch assembly against its mounting location on the steering column housing, ensuring the switch lever(s) are oriented correctly and aligned with the mounting holes. Seat the switch fully against the mounting surface.

   Install switch mounting fasteners
   Install the 2 Torx screws to secure the multi-function switch to the steering column. Tighten screws evenly and snugly, but do not overtighten as the switch housing is plastic.

   Reconnect wiring harness
   Reconnect the electrical connector(s) to the multi-function switch, ensuring each connector seats fully and the locking tab clicks into place. Route the wiring harness as noted during removal to prevent pinching.

    Reinstall upper steering column cover
    Position the upper steering column cover over the column, aligning the ignition cylinder opening. Ensure any retaining clips engage properly. Install the Torx screws and tighten snugly.

    Reinstall lower steering column cover
    Position the lower steering column cover against the upper cover and column. Ensure all alignment tabs and clips engage properly. Install the Torx screws and tighten snugly.

    Reconnect battery and test
    Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn ignition to RUN position (engine off). Test all wiper switch functions: intermittent, low speed, high speed, and washer spray. Verify all functions operate correctly before returning vehicle to service.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all wiring harness connectors are fully seated and locked before reinstalling steering column covers.
2. Verify steering column covers are properly aligned and all fasteners are secure to prevent rattles.
3. After battery reconnection, power windows and other systems may need reinitialization per normal vehicle operation.

Verification

• Turn ignition to RUN and test all wiper speeds (intermittent, low, high) to confirm proper operation.
• Test washer spray function to ensure electrical connection is complete.
• Operate turn signals and headlight controls (if integrated) to verify no interference with wiper switch installation.
• Check that steering column covers are secure with no gaps or loose fasteners.
• Verify no warning lights are illuminated on instrument cluster related to electrical system.
