- 2Remove lower instrument panel coverLocate the lower dash panel below the steering column. Remove the retaining screws using a 10mm socket. Gently pull the lower panel away from the dash, releasing any remaining clips. Disconnect any electrical connectors if present and set the panel aside.
- 3Remove left side instrument panel trimUsing a panel trim removal tool, carefully pry the left side instrument panel trim piece away from the dash starting at the bottom edge. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing all retaining clips. The headlight switch is integrated into this trim panel on this model.⚠Apply steady, even pressure when releasing clips to avoid breaking the trim panel or clips
- 4Access headlight switch connectorsWith the trim panel partially removed, reach behind to locate the headlight switch electrical connectors. There are typically two connectors: one main harness connector and one for the rotary dimmer switch if equipped. Note the connector positions before removal.
- 5Disconnect electrical connectorsPress the locking tab on each electrical connector and pull straight back to disconnect from the headlight switch. The main connector has a red secondary lock that must be lifted before the primary tab can be released. Keep connectors accessible for reinstallation.
- 6Remove headlight switch from trim panelFrom the back side of the trim panel, locate the headlight switch retaining tabs or screws. Depending on the specific trim variant, either press the release tabs and push the switch forward out of the panel, or remove the small retaining screws. Separate the switch from the trim panel.
- 7Install new headlight switchPosition the new headlight switch into the trim panel opening from the back side. Ensure it is properly oriented with the knob positioned correctly. Push firmly until the retaining tabs click into place, or reinstall any retaining screws if applicable. Verify the switch is secure in the panel.
- 8Reconnect electrical connectorsReconnect both electrical connectors to the new headlight switch, ensuring they click firmly into place. Verify the red secondary lock (if equipped) is pushed down to fully secure the main connector. Gently tug on each connector to confirm proper engagement.
- 9Reinstall instrument panel trimPosition the trim panel with integrated headlight switch back into the dashboard opening. Align all clips and press firmly around the perimeter until all clips engage with an audible click. Ensure the panel sits flush with surrounding trim.
- 10Reinstall lower instrument panel coverReconnect any electrical connectors to the lower panel if applicable. Position the lower panel and engage any clips, then install the retaining screws. Tighten screws evenly to avoid warping the panel.
- 11Reconnect battery and testReconnect the negative battery terminal to the battery post. Using a torque wrench and 10mm socket, tighten the terminal bolt to specification. Do not overtighten as this can damage the terminal or battery post.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
Reassembly
- Ensure all trim panels are properly seated and all clips are fully engaged
- Verify no electrical connectors were left disconnected
- Check that all dashboard panels are flush and aligned properly

- Rotate headlight switch through all positions: OFF, parking lights, and headlights - verify proper operation at each position
- Test the instrument panel dimmer function if equipped by rotating the outer ring
- Verify auto headlight function works if vehicle is equipped with automatic headlights
- Check that all warning lights on instrument cluster illuminate and extinguish normally
- Confirm no dashboard warning lights related to lighting system remain illuminated
- Test high beam and turn signal functions to ensure no related systems were affected
