Parts
- Side mirror assembly (driver or passenger side) × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Door panel clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
- If equipped with power-folding mirrors, consider disconnecting battery negative terminal to prevent electrical issues
- Roll down the window of the door being worked on for easier access
- Clean work area around mirror base to prevent dirt entry into door
Procedure
- 1Remove door panel trim pieceAt the front upper corner of the door panel where the mirror mounts, locate the small triangular trim cover. Carefully pry this cover away from the door panel using a trim removal tool or flat-head screwdriver wrapped in a shop towel. The cover is held by clips and pulls straight off toward the interior of the vehicle.
- 2Access mirror electrical connectorWith the trim cover removed, you will see the mirror wiring harness connector inside the door cavity. Locate the electrical connector which typically has a locking tab. Press the release tab and pull the connector apart to disconnect power, heated mirror, and any additional features (puddle lights, blind spot monitoring, power folding).
- 3Remove mirror mounting boltsLocate the three T30 Torx mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These bolts are positioned in a triangular pattern. Support the mirror from the outside with one hand while removing the bolts with the other to prevent the mirror from falling. Remove all three bolts completely.⚠Support the mirror assembly from outside before removing the final bolt to prevent it from falling and causing damage or injury.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 4Remove mirror assemblyWith all mounting bolts removed and electrical connector disconnected, carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door. Guide the wiring harness through the opening in the door frame as you remove the mirror. Set the old mirror aside on a protected surface if being reused or for core return.
- 5Prepare new mirror assemblyInspect the new mirror assembly for any shipping damage. If equipped with power-folding feature, ensure the mirror is in the extended (unfolded) position before installation. Check that the mounting surface on the door is clean and free of debris or old gasket material.
- 6Install new mirror assemblyFeed the electrical connector and wiring harness through the door opening. Align the mirror base with the three mounting holes on the door frame. While holding the mirror in position from the outside, start all three T30 Torx mounting bolts by hand to ensure proper thread engagement.
- 7Torque mounting boltsUsing a torque wrench with T30 Torx bit, tighten the three mirror mounting bolts in a star pattern to 34.0 Nm (25 lb-ft). Verify the mirror assembly sits flush against the door frame with no gaps and feels secure with no movement.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 8Connect electrical connectorReach into the door cavity and firmly connect the mirror electrical connector. Push together until you hear and feel the locking tab click into place. Gently tug on the connection to verify it is secure.
- 9Reinstall trim coverAlign the triangular trim cover with the door panel opening. Press firmly around all edges until all retaining clips snap into place. Ensure the cover is flush with the surrounding door panel with no gaps.
Reassembly
- If battery was disconnected, reconnect negative terminal and torque to 6.0 Nm (4 lb-ft)
- Test all mirror functions before returning vehicle to service
- Adjust mirror position for proper driver visibility
Verification
- Start the vehicle and verify power mirror adjustment works in all directions (up, down, left, right)
- If equipped, test heated mirror function and verify defrost operation
- If equipped with power-folding, test fold and unfold function operates smoothly
- If equipped with blind spot monitoring, verify indicator lights function properly
- If equipped with puddle lamps, verify lights illuminate when door is opened
- Physically check that mirror assembly is secure with no movement or rattles
- Verify turn signal repeater functions if equipped in mirror housing
- Check that mirror glass adjustment holds position and does not drift
