Parts
- Fog light assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
- Push pin retainers (if damaged) × 2 — Ford W710766-S900
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
- Turn off ignition and all lights, allow fog lights to cool if recently used
- Turn front wheels fully to the side opposite of the fog light being serviced for easier access
Procedure
- 1Access the fog light areaFrom underneath the front bumper, locate the fog light assembly. You may need to access from the wheel well or underneath depending on which provides better access. If accessing from wheel well, partially remove the front portion of the inner fender liner by removing 2-3 push pin retainers to gain clearance.
- 2Disconnect electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector on the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect. Do not pull on the wiring harness itself.
- 3Remove fog light mounting fastenersRemove the two 10mm mounting bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper bracket. Support the fog light assembly with one hand while removing the second bolt to prevent it from falling.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 4Remove fog light assemblyCarefully pull the fog light assembly forward and out of the bumper opening. Note the orientation and positioning of any alignment tabs or brackets for reinstallation.
- 5Install new fog light assemblyPosition the new fog light assembly into the bumper opening, ensuring any alignment tabs engage properly with the bumper bracket. The assembly should sit flush with the bumper surface.
- 6Install mounting boltsThread in both 10mm mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper thread engagement. Tighten the mounting bolts to 42.0 Nm (31 lb-ft) in a cross pattern to ensure even seating of the assembly.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 7Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector onto the back of the fog light assembly until you hear or feel a positive click indicating the locking tab has engaged. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is secure.
- 8Reinstall fender linerIf the inner fender liner was partially removed, reinstall it by pushing the push pin retainers back into their mounting holes until fully seated. Replace any damaged retainers with new ones.
Reassembly
- Ensure all push pin retainers are fully seated and the fender liner is secure
- Verify the fog light assembly sits flush with the bumper and is not loose or misaligned
Verification
- Turn the ignition to the ON position and activate the fog lights using the headlight switch
- Visually confirm both fog lights illuminate properly if both were serviced
- Walk around the vehicle and verify the new fog light assembly is aligned properly with the bumper and opposite side fog light
- Check for any warning lights on the instrument cluster related to exterior lighting
