This procedure relearns the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors on a 2015-2020 Ford F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost engine after tire rotation, sensor replacement, or pressure adjustment.
Warnings
⚠Ensure all tires are cold before checking and adjusting pressure for accurate readings
ℹ️The TPMS relearn process must be completed within specific time windows or the procedure will timeout and must be restarted

Preparation
- Locate the driver's door jamb sticker showing recommended tire pressures for front and rear tires
- Park vehicle on level ground and ensure all tires are cold (vehicle has not been driven for at least 3 hours)
- Ensure ignition key fob is available and functional
- Turn off all accessories and close all doors, hood, and tailgate
Procedure
- 1Verify and adjust tire pressuresCheck pressure in all four tires plus the spare tire (if TPMS-equipped). Inflate or deflate each tire to match the specifications on the driver's door jamb sticker. For 2015-2020 F-150, this is typically 35 PSI front and rear, but verify your specific vehicle's placard. The spare tire pressure requirement is usually 60 PSI if TPMS-equipped.
- 2Access TPMS reset via instrument clusterTurn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. Use the steering wheel controls to navigate through the instrument cluster menu. Press the 'Settings' button, then scroll to 'Tire Pressure' and select it. Navigate to 'TPMS Reset' or 'Tire Pressure Reset' option.
- 3Initiate the TPMS training modeSelect 'Train Tire Sensors' or 'Begin TPMS Relearn' from the menu. The message center will display 'Train LF Tire' (Left Front). The horn will chirp once to confirm the system is in training mode. You now have 2 minutes to complete the next step for the left front tire before the system times out.
- 4Train the left front sensorPosition yourself at the left front tire. If using a TPMS relearn tool, hold it against the tire sidewall near the valve stem and activate it according to tool instructions until the horn chirps. If not using a tool, deflate the tire for 5-8 seconds until the horn chirps (you can re-inflate after). The horn chirp confirms the sensor has been learned. The message center will then display 'Train RF Tire' (Right Front).
- 5Train the right front sensorMove to the right front tire within 2 minutes. Repeat the training procedure using either the TPMS tool or deflation method until the horn chirps. The message center will then display 'Train RR Tire' (Right Rear).
- 6Train the right rear sensorMove to the right rear tire within 2 minutes. Repeat the training procedure using either the TPMS tool or deflation method until the horn chirps. The message center will then display 'Train LR Tire' (Left Rear).
- 7Train the left rear sensorMove to the left rear tire within 2 minutes. Repeat the training procedure using either the TPMS tool or deflation method until the horn chirps. The message center will display 'TPMS Training Complete' or similar confirmation message.
- 8Complete the relearn procedureTurn the ignition to the OFF position. If you deflated any tires during the training process, re-inflate all tires to the correct pressure specified on the door jamb sticker. The TPMS warning light may remain illuminated temporarily.
- 9Drive cycle to verify system operationStart the engine and drive the vehicle at speeds above 20 mph for at least 10 minutes. This allows the TPMS system to verify all sensors are communicating properly and complete the initialization process. The TPMS warning light should extinguish during or shortly after this drive cycle.
Reassembly
- No disassembly was required for this procedure
Verification
- Confirm the TPMS warning light is no longer illuminated on the instrument cluster after the drive cycle
- Use the instrument cluster menu to verify that all four tire pressures are being displayed correctly and match the actual tire pressures
- Test that the TPMS warning light illuminates when ignition is turned to ON position (bulb check), then extinguishes after engine start
- If available, use a TPMS scan tool to confirm all four sensor IDs are properly stored in the vehicle's TPMS module
