Complete replacement of all engine and transmission mounts on the 2021-2024 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost RWD, including driver-side, passenger-side, rear, and transmission mounts.
Warnings
⚠️Engine must be properly supported at all times during mount replacement. Failure to adequately support the engine and transmission can result in severe injury or death.
⚠Allow engine to cool completely before beginning work. Hot components can cause severe burns.
⚠Do not work under a vehicle supported only by a hydraulic jack. Always use properly rated jack stands.

Parts
- Driver-side engine mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Passenger-side engine mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Rear engine mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Transmission mount assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 2 minutes for system discharge.
- Raise vehicle on lift or safely support on jack stands at manufacturer-specified lift points.
- Remove engine skid plate or belly pan if equipped.
- Inspect all engine mounts visually to confirm which mounts require replacement.
Procedure
- 1Install engine support systemInstall engine support bar across the engine bay, positioned on the strut towers or fender rails. Attach support chain or strap to a secure engine lifting point. Take up slight tension but do not lift engine yet. Alternatively, position a floor jack with wooden block under the oil pan to support engine from below.⚠️Ensure engine support is secure and rated for engine weight (approximately 450 lbs) before proceeding.
- 2Support transmissionPosition hydraulic transmission jack or floor jack with transmission adapter under the transmission pan. Raise jack to contact transmission but do not lift. This will support the transmission when the rear mount and transmission mount are removed.
- 3Remove driver-side engine mountLocate the driver-side engine mount between the engine block and frame rail. Remove the through-bolt securing the mount to the engine bracket. Remove the mount-to-frame bolts securing the mount to the frame rail. Slightly raise the engine using the support system to create clearance if needed. Remove the old mount assembly.Torque specMount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Engine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)
- 4Install driver-side engine mountPosition the new driver-side engine mount onto the frame rail. Install and hand-tighten the mount-to-frame bolts. Lower the engine onto the mount and align the through-bolt hole. Install the through-bolt and hand-tighten. Torque mount-to-frame bolts to specification, then torque the through-bolt to specification.Torque specEngine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)Mount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)
- 5Remove passenger-side engine mountLocate the passenger-side engine mount between the engine block and frame rail. Remove the through-bolt securing the mount to the engine bracket. Remove the mount-to-frame bolts securing the mount to the frame rail. Raise the engine slightly using the support system if needed for clearance. Remove the old mount assembly.Torque specMount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Engine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)
- 6Install passenger-side engine mountPosition the new passenger-side engine mount onto the frame rail. Install and hand-tighten the engine mount-to-frame bolts. Lower the engine onto the mount and align the through-bolt hole. Install the through-bolt and hand-tighten. - 7Remove rear engine mountLocate the rear engine mount at the back of the engine block or bell housing area. This mount may be integrated with the transmission support. Remove the mounting bolts securing the mount to the engine or transmission bell housing. Remove the bolts securing the mount to the crossmember. Use the engine support and transmission jack to adjust engine/transmission position for clearance. Remove the old rear mount.Torque specMounting Bolts55 Nm (40 lb-ft)
- 8Install rear engine mountPosition the new rear engine mount onto the crossmember. Install and hand-tighten the mounting bolts to the crossmember. Adjust engine and transmission position using support equipment to align the mount to the engine/bell housing. Install mounting bolts to the engine and hand-tighten. Torque all mounting bolts to specification.Torque specMounting Bolts55 Nm (40 lb-ft)
- 9Remove transmission mountLocate the transmission mount under the transmission tailshaft area. Raise the transmission slightly with the jack to relieve weight from the mount. Remove the transmission mount bolts securing the mount to the transmission. Remove the bolts securing the mount to the crossmember or frame. Remove the old transmission mount.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 10Install transmission mountPosition the new transmission mount onto the crossmember or frame and install mounting hardware hand-tight. Lower the transmission onto the mount and align mounting holes. Install transmission mount bolts and hand-tighten. Torque all transmission mount bolts to specification.Torque specTransmission Mount Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 11Remove support equipment and verify alignmentSlowly lower the engine support system and transmission jack, allowing the engine and transmission to settle onto the new mounts. Check that all mounts are properly seated and aligned. Remove the engine support bar and transmission jack. Verify no interference exists between engine/transmission and frame or body components.
- 12Reinstall removed componentsReinstall the engine skid plate or belly pan if equipped. Torque all fasteners to specification per service manual. Lower vehicle from lift or jack stands.
Reassembly
- Reconnect negative battery terminal and torque to specification.
- Perform a final visual inspection of all mount installations to ensure proper seating.
- Check engine bay for any tools or parts left behind.
Verification
- Start the engine and allow it to idle. Listen for abnormal vibrations or noises that may indicate improper mount installation.
- With engine running, shift transmission through all gears (with brake applied) and verify no excessive engine movement occurs.
- Perform a test drive at various speeds. Engine should operate smoothly without excessive vibration or movement.
- After test drive, re-inspect all mount bolts for proper torque and verify no loosening has occurred.
- Check for contact marks between engine/transmission and frame indicating misalignment or inadequate clearance.
