Parts
- Dash speaker (tweeter) × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Trim clips (if damaged) × 2 — Honda 91503-SZ3-003 or equivalent
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition off and remove key
- Allow interior to cool if vehicle has been in direct sunlight to prevent trim damage
Procedure
- 1Locate the dash speaker grilleThe dash speaker (tweeter) grille is located at the top corner of the dashboard near the A-pillar on the side you are servicing. It is a small triangular or circular grille approximately 2-3 inches in diameter.
- 2Release the speaker grilleInsert a plastic trim removal tool into the gap between the speaker grille and dashboard surface. Gently pry upward starting from the rear edge of the grille. The grille is held by 2-3 plastic clips. Work around the perimeter carefully to release all clips without breaking them.
- 3Remove the speaker grilleOnce all clips are released, lift the grille away from the dashboard and set aside in a safe location to avoid scratching.
- 4Access the speaker mountingWith the grille removed, you will see the dash speaker (tweeter) secured by either Phillips screws or plastic tabs. On most 2018-2024 Accord models, the speaker is held by two Phillips screws at the outer edges.
- 5Remove speaker mounting screwsUsing a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the speaker to the dashboard mounting bracket. Keep these screws in a secure location as they are small and easily lost.
- 6Disconnect the speaker connectorGently pull the speaker forward to access the electrical connector on the rear. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect the wiring harness from the speaker terminals. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
- 7Remove the old speakerOnce disconnected, remove the speaker from the dashboard cavity and inspect the mounting area for any debris or damage.
- 8Install the new speakerConnect the wiring harness to the new speaker by aligning the connector and pressing firmly until you hear a click. Verify the connection is secure by gently tugging on the connector, not the wires.
- 9Secure the new speakerPosition the new speaker into the dashboard cavity, aligning the mounting holes. Install the two Phillips screws and tighten evenly by hand until snug. Do not overtighten as you may crack the speaker housing.
- 10Reinstall the speaker grilleAlign the speaker grille with the dashboard opening, ensuring all clips are properly positioned. Press firmly around the perimeter until all clips engage with an audible click. Verify the grille sits flush with the dashboard surface.
Reassembly
- Ensure speaker grille is fully seated and flush with dashboard surface
- Check that no gaps exist between grille and dashboard trim
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position (engine does not need to run)
- Turn on audio system and select a source with audio output
- Adjust balance and fade controls to isolate the replaced speaker
- Verify sound output is clear without distortion, buzzing, or rattling
- Test at various volume levels from low to moderate
- Visually confirm speaker grille has no gaps and is properly seated
