Heated Seat Module

This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the heated seat module located under the driver or passenger front seat on 2016-2024 Hyundai Tucson models.

• Wiring harness connector seals (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait minimum 3 minutes
3. Move affected seat fully forward to access rear mounting points
4. Remove any floor mats or debris from under the seat area

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove seat track rear mounting bolts
   Move the seat fully forward. Locate the two rear seat track mounting bolts at the rear of both seat rails. Remove both bolts using a 10mm socket. Note that these bolts secure the seat to the floor pan.

   Remove seat track front mounting bolts
   Move the seat fully rearward to access the front mounting bolts. Remove the two front seat track mounting bolts using a 10mm socket. Support the seat to prevent it from tipping once all bolts are removed.

   Disconnect seat electrical connectors
   Carefully tilt the seat backward to access the underside. Locate all electrical connectors including power seat, heated seat, and seat occupancy sensor connectors. Press the release tabs and disconnect all connectors. Note the connector positions for reassembly.

   Remove seat from vehicle
   With all electrical connections disconnected and mounting bolts removed, carefully lift the seat assembly out of the vehicle. The seat is heavy, approximately 40-50 lbs, so use proper lifting technique or get assistance. Place seat upside down on a clean protected work surface.

   Locate heated seat module
   With the seat inverted, locate the heated seat module mounted to the underside of the seat frame. It is typically a rectangular black or silver box approximately 3x4 inches in size, mounted near the center of the seat with wiring harnesses connected to it.

   Disconnect module electrical connectors
   Identify the electrical connectors attached to the heated seat module. Typically there are 2-3 connectors: one from the seat heating elements, one from the vehicle wiring harness, and possibly one for the temperature sensor. Press the release tabs and carefully disconnect all connectors from the module.

   Remove heated seat module mounting bolts
   Locate the module mounting bolts securing the heated seat module to the seat frame bracket. Remove these bolts using a 10mm socket. Remove the module from the seat frame.

   Install new heated seat module
   Position the new heated seat module in the same location and orientation as the original. Install the module mounting bolts finger-tight first to ensure proper alignment, then torque to specification using a torque wrench.

   Reconnect module electrical connectors
   Reconnect all electrical connectors to the new heated seat module in their original positions. Ensure each connector clicks into place and is fully seated. Verify that connector seals are intact and not damaged.

    Reinstall seat assembly
    Carefully lift the seat assembly and position it back into the vehicle over the mounting points. Connect all electrical connectors under the seat including power, heated seat, and occupancy sensor connectors. Ensure all wiring is routed properly and not pinched.

    Install seat mounting bolts
    Install all four seat mounting bolts (two front, two rear) finger-tight initially. Ensure the seat is properly aligned on the floor pan. Torque all mounting bolts to specification in a cross-pattern to ensure even seating.

    Reconnect battery and clear codes
    Reconnect the negative battery terminal and torque to specification. Turn the ignition to ON position (do not start engine). Check for any warning lights on the instrument cluster related to airbag or seat systems. Use a diagnostic scanner to clear any stored fault codes if present.

Reassembly

1. Verify all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
2. Ensure no wiring is pinched between seat rails and floor pan
3. Test seat movement through full range of travel before road testing
4. Verify seat belt buckle and pretensioner connectors are secure

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON and verify no airbag or seat warning lights are illuminated
• Test heated seat operation on all heat settings for both low and high temperature
• Verify heated seat turns off automatically when temperature is reached
• Move seat through full range of power adjustment to ensure no interference with wiring
• Check that seat occupancy sensor is functioning (passenger airbag light responds to weight)
• Road test vehicle and verify heated seat continues to function properly without fault codes
