Complete replacement of all engine and transmission mounts on the 2017 Maserati Levante 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo, including left and right engine mounts, rear transmission mount, and torque mount.

Warnings

⚠️Engine must be properly supported at all times during this procedure. Failure to adequately support the engine can result in catastrophic damage or serious injury.
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use proper jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
Allow engine to cool completely before beginning work. Components may remain hot for several hours after operation.
Do not loosen more than one mount at a time without verifying engine support is adequate to prevent shifting.
ℹ️This procedure requires precise torque specifications on all mount bolts. Using incorrect torque can cause engine vibration, premature mount failure, or component damage.

  6. Install engine support fixture across engine bay or position overhead hoist with load leveler attached to engine lift points
  7. Take up slight tension on engine support to pre-load but do not lift engine yet
  8. Document routing of any wiring harnesses or hoses that may interfere with mount access

Procedure

  1. 1
Support powertrain and prepare for mount removal
Carefully raise engine using support fixture approximately 5-10mm to unload mounts while keeping powertrain aligned. Place hydraulic jack with wide pad under transmission pan (use wood block to protect pan) and raise slightly to support transmission weight independently. Verify engine is stable and all weight is off the mounts before proceeding.
⚠️Verify engine support is secure and stable before loosening any mount bolts. Check that no hoses, wiring, or components are under tension.
  2. 2
    Remove right engine mount
From under vehicle, locate right engine mount between engine block and frame rail. Disconnect any electrical connectors for active mount control if equipped. Remove upper mount-to-block bolts first, then remove lower mount-to-frame bolts. Carefully extract mount from mounting position, noting orientation and any shims present.

    Engine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)
  3. 3
    Remove left engine mount
Access left engine mount from wheel well and underneath. Remove wheel well liner clips as needed for clearance. Disconnect electrical connector if equipped with active mount. Remove mount-to-block bolts and mount-to-frame bolts. Note that through-bolt may be present depending on mount design; remove if applicable. Extract mount assembly and inspect mounting surfaces.

    Mount Through Bolt93 Nm (68 lb-ft)
  4. 4
    Remove front torque mount
Locate torque mount (upper engine stabilizer mount) between front of engine and subframe/radiator support. This mount may have mounting bolts on engine side and through-bolt on frame side. Remove mounting bolts securing torque mount to engine bracket. Remove through-bolt or mounting bolts securing mount to frame. Remove mount assembly.
    Torque spec
    Mounting Bolts50 Nm (37 lb-ft)
    Through-Bolt85 Nm (63 lb-ft)
  5. 5
    Remove rear transmission mount
With transmission supported by jack, locate rear transmission mount between transmission crossmember and chassis. Remove transmission mount bolts securing mount to transmission or transmission crossmember. Remove bolts securing mount to chassis/subframe. Lower transmission jack slightly if needed for clearance and remove mount assembly. Inspect crossmember for damage or cracks.
Ensure transmission jack is stable and properly positioned before removing mount bolts. Transmission may shift slightly when mount is removed.

  6. 6
    Clean all mounting surfaces
Use wire brush to thoroughly clean all mounting surfaces on engine block, transmission, frame rails, and subframe where mounts attach. Remove all rust, debris, old rubber residue, and corrosion. Inspect mounting bolt holes for damage or stripped threads. Clean mounting bolt threads with wire brush. Inspect all mounting brackets for cracks or deformation.
ℹ️Clean mating surfaces are critical for proper mount seating and torque retention. Any debris or corrosion can prevent proper torque values from being achieved.

    Install new right engine mount
Position new right engine mount between engine block and frame rail in correct orientation. Start all bolts by hand before tightening any. Install and hand-tighten mount-to-block bolts first, then mount-to-frame bolts. Using torque wrench, tighten mount-to-block bolts to specification, then tighten mount-to-frame bolts to specification. Reconnect electrical connector if equipped.

    Lower engine and verify alignment
Slowly and carefully lower engine support fixture to transfer weight onto new mounts. Lower transmission jack slightly while observing alignment. Engine should settle evenly onto all mounts without binding or misalignment. Check that no hoses, wiring, or components are under strain. Verify all mount bolts remain tight and mounts are properly compressed.
Lower engine very slowly while observing all clearances. Stop immediately if any binding, unusual movement, or component contact is observed.
  12. 12
    Final torque verification and inspection
With engine weight now on mounts, perform final torque verification on all mount bolts following proper tightening sequence. Re-torque any bolts that may have shifted during engine settling. Inspect all mounts visually for proper seating, alignment, and full compression. Check that no mount shows signs of immediate failure or improper installation. Remove engine support fixture and transmission jack.

Reassembly

  1. Reinstall front undertray panels and secure all fasteners
  2. Reinstall wheel well liner clips if removed for access
  3. Reinstall engine cover, ensuring rear tabs engage before seating front clips
  4. Reconnect negative battery terminal and torque to specification
  5. Lower vehicle from jack stands or lift

Verification

  • Start engine and allow to idle, listening for unusual noises or vibrations that might indicate improper mount installation
  • With engine idling, shift transmission through all gear ranges while observing engine movement - should be minimal and controlled
  • Rev engine moderately and observe that engine does not contact any surrounding components or chassis
  • Perform test drive including moderate acceleration, deceleration, and turning to verify mounts are controlling engine movement properly
  • Re-inspect all mount bolts after test drive for any loosening or movement
  • Verify no new vibrations are present at idle, during acceleration, or at highway speeds
  • Check that no warning lights or fault codes are present related to active mount control if equipped
