Replace the fog light bulb on a 2017 Maserati Levante by accessing the bulb assembly from the wheel well through the inner fender liner.

Warnings

Allow fog lights to cool for at least 10 minutes before attempting bulb replacement to prevent burns
ℹ️Avoid touching the glass portion of the new halogen bulb with bare hands as oils can cause premature failure; use the supplied gloves or clean cloth
Do not force plastic clips or fasteners; they are brittle and can break easily

Parts

  • H8 or H11 fog light bulb (verify bulb type) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn off fog lights and allow to cool completely
  3. Turn steering wheel fully in the opposite direction of the fog light being replaced to improve access
  4. Verify replacement bulb type matches existing bulb before starting work

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove wheel well liner fasteners
Locate the front section of the inner fender liner behind the front wheel. Remove the plastic push-pin fasteners and screws securing the front and middle sections of the wheel well liner. You will need to remove approximately 4-6 fasteners to create enough access to the fog light housing.
  2. 2
    Fold back inner fender liner
Carefully pull back the front section of the inner fender liner to expose the rear of the fog light housing. The liner is flexible; fold it back enough to reach behind the fog light assembly. Use a work light to illuminate the area.
  3. 3
    Locate fog light bulb socket
Identify the fog light bulb socket on the rear of the fog light housing. It is a circular socket with an electrical connector attached. The socket is typically oriented horizontally or at a slight angle.
  4. 4
    Disconnect electrical connector
Press the release tab on the electrical connector and pull it straight away from the bulb socket. There may be a locking tab or squeeze-to-release mechanism depending on the connector type. Ensure you support the socket while disconnecting to avoid damaging the housing.
  5. 5
    Remove bulb socket
Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) and pull it straight out from the fog light housing. The socket and bulb come out as a single assembly.
  6. 6
    Remove old bulb from socket
Depending on bulb type, either pull the bulb straight out from the socket (if friction-fit) or press and twist counterclockwise to release from a bayonet mount. Note the orientation of the bulb for proper installation of the replacement.
  7. 7
    Install new bulb
Using a clean cloth or the protective sleeve provided with the new bulb, insert the new bulb into the socket. Ensure the bulb is fully seated and locked into position. Do not touch the glass envelope with bare skin.
  8. 8
    Reinstall bulb socket assembly
Insert the bulb socket back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs properly. Rotate clockwise 1/4 turn until it locks into place with a click or stops rotating.
  9. 9
    Reconnect electrical connector
Push the electrical connector firmly onto the bulb socket until the locking tab clicks into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is secure.
  10. 10
    Test fog light operation
Before reassembling the wheel well liner, turn on the ignition and activate the fog lights to verify the new bulb is functioning properly. Check for proper beam pattern and brightness.
  11. 11
    Reinstall wheel well liner
Position the inner fender liner back into place and reinstall all plastic fasteners and screws removed in step 1. Ensure all clips are fully seated and the liner is secure with no gaps or loose sections.

Reassembly

  1. Verify all wheel well liner fasteners are properly installed and secure
  2. Return steering wheel to center position
  3. Dispose of old bulb according to local regulations

Verification

  • Turn on fog lights and verify new bulb illuminates with proper brightness
  • Check that fog light beam pattern is correct and symmetrical with the opposite side
  • Visually inspect wheel well liner to ensure it is properly secured with no rattles or loose sections
  • Take a short test drive and confirm fog light continues to function properly without flickering
