HVAC Control Panel

Remove and replace the HVAC control panel in the center console of a 2017 Maserati Levante, including disconnecting electrical connections and reinstalling trim components.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 10 minutes
3. Set steering wheel to straight position
4. Ensure HVAC system is off and vehicle is cool
5. Organize workspace and prepare trim removal tools

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove lower center console trim panel
   Using plastic pry tools, carefully release the lower center console trim panel starting from the rear edges. Work your way forward, releasing clips along both sides. Pull panel rearward and up to disengage from mounting points. Disconnect any electrical connectors for auxiliary power outlets or USB ports if equipped.

   Remove gear selector trim surround
   Release the gear selector trim surround by gently prying up at the rear edge near the storage compartment. Lift the trim panel up and over the gear selector lever. Disconnect any electrical connections for heated seat switches or other controls integrated into this panel.

   Access HVAC control panel fasteners
   Locate and remove the screws securing the HVAC control panel assembly. There are typically four screws: two at the top accessible from above and two at the bottom accessible through the lower console opening. Use a T20 Torx driver to remove these fasteners. Store all fasteners in a magnetic tray.

   Remove center air vent assembly
   The center air vent assembly may need to be partially released to access the HVAC control panel. Insert trim tools at the top corners of the vent assembly and carefully pry outward. Release the clips holding the vent in place, then pull forward gently to create access space.

   Disconnect HVAC control panel connectors
   Carefully pull the HVAC control panel forward approximately 2-3 inches. Locate the main electrical connector on the rear of the unit. Press the release tab and disconnect the main harness connector. If equipped with dual-zone climate control, there may be a secondary connector to disconnect. Take note of connector orientation.

   Remove HVAC control panel
   With all electrical connections disconnected, carefully maneuver the HVAC control panel out of the dashboard opening. Be mindful of any remaining clips or obstacles. Inspect the mounting bracket and clips for damage.

   Inspect mounting points and connections
   Examine the dashboard opening and mounting brackets for any damaged clips or broken tabs. Check the electrical connectors for bent pins, corrosion, or damage. Clean any dust or debris from the mounting area using compressed air or a soft brush.

   Install new HVAC control panel
   Position the new HVAC control panel near the opening. Connect the main electrical harness connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place. If equipped with dual-zone, connect the secondary connector. Verify all connector locks are fully engaged before proceeding.

   Secure HVAC control panel
   Carefully push the HVAC control panel into the dashboard opening, ensuring it is properly aligned with mounting points. Install the four mounting screws and tighten to specification using a torque wrench. Ensure the panel sits flush with surrounding trim before final tightening.

    Reinstall center air vent assembly
    If the center air vent assembly was removed or displaced, push it back into position until all clips engage. Verify it is seated flush with the dashboard surface and operates smoothly.

    Reinstall gear selector trim surround
    Reconnect any electrical connectors for switches in the gear selector trim. Position the trim surround over the gear selector lever and press down firmly around all edges until clips engage. Verify all edges are flush and secure.

    Reinstall lower center console trim
    Reconnect electrical connectors for auxiliary power outlets or USB ports. Position the lower center console trim panel and align with mounting points. Press firmly around all edges to engage retaining clips. Verify panel is secure and gaps are even.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect negative battery terminal
2. Start vehicle and allow infotainment system to initialize completely
3. Verify all interior trim panels are properly seated with even gaps
4. Check that all clips are fully engaged and no rattles are present

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position and verify HVAC control panel illuminates
• Test all HVAC functions including fan speed, temperature adjustment, mode selection, and recirculation
• Verify both driver and passenger zone controls function independently (if dual-zone equipped)
• Test automatic climate control functionality if equipped
• Confirm touchscreen or physical buttons respond correctly to inputs
• Check that air flows from correct vents when mode is changed
• Verify heated/cooled seat switches still function if integrated into removed panels
• Confirm no warning lights or HVAC system faults are displayed on instrument cluster
