Side Mirror Assembly

This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the side mirror assembly on a 2017 Maserati Levante, including disconnecting electrical connections and installing a new mirror unit.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Turn ignition off and remove key fob from vehicle interior
3. Allow vehicle to sit for 2 minutes to ensure all modules enter sleep mode
4. Gather all tools and new mirror assembly before beginning work
5. Inspect new mirror assembly to confirm correct color match and feature set (heated, power folding, blind spot monitoring if equipped)

   Remove door trim panel upper section
   Using trim removal tools, carefully pry the upper door trim panel starting from the rear edge near the door handle. Work forward to release the clips securing the panel. The mirror access cover is integrated into this upper section on the Levante. Lift the panel up and away once all clips are released.

   Access mirror mounting area
   With the upper trim removed, locate the triangular mirror base cover at the front upper corner of the door. Remove the T20 Torx screws securing this cover (typically 2 screws). Carefully pull the cover away to expose the mirror mounting bolts and electrical connector.

   Disconnect mirror electrical connector
   Locate the multi-pin electrical connector behind the mirror base. Press the locking tab and carefully pull the connector straight back to disconnect. If equipped with blind spot monitoring, there will be a second smaller connector - disconnect this as well using the same method. Do not pull on wires, only on the connector body.

   Remove mirror mounting bolts
   Using a 10mm socket with extension, remove the three mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These bolts are accessed from inside the door cavity. Support the mirror assembly from the outside with your free hand to prevent it from falling once the last bolt is removed.

   Remove mirror assembly
   With all mounting bolts removed and electrical connections disconnected, carefully guide the mirror assembly away from the door. Thread the wiring harness through the door frame opening as you remove the mirror. Place the old mirror on a clean, padded surface to prevent scratching.

   Prepare new mirror assembly
   Unpack the new mirror assembly and inspect for any shipping damage. Remove any protective films or packaging materials. Route the electrical harness through the door frame opening from the outside, ensuring the harness is not twisted or kinked. Position the mirror base against the door mounting surface.

   Install mirror mounting bolts
   While holding the mirror assembly in position from the outside, install the three mounting bolts from inside the door cavity. Start all three bolts by hand before tightening any of them. Once all bolts are hand-started, torque them in a star pattern (alternating between bolts) to the specified torque value using a torque wrench.

   Connect mirror electrical connectors
   Connect the main multi-pin connector to the mirror harness, ensuring it clicks into place and the locking tab engages. If equipped with blind spot monitoring, connect the secondary connector. Gently tug on each connector to verify they are fully seated and locked.

   Test mirror functions
   Before reinstalling trim panels, insert the key fob and turn the ignition to the ON position (engine does not need to start). Test all mirror functions: power adjustment in all directions, power folding (if equipped), and heating function (allow 30 seconds to verify heating elements are working). Verify blind spot monitoring indicator illuminates if equipped.

    Reinstall mirror base cover
    Position the triangular mirror base cover over the mounting area, ensuring all edges are properly aligned. Install the T20 Torx screws and torque to specification. Verify the cover sits flush against the door surface with no gaps.

    Reinstall door trim panel
    Align the upper door trim panel with the mounting locations on the door frame. Starting at the front near the mirror, press firmly to engage the retaining clips. Work rearward, ensuring each clip fully engages with an audible click. Verify the panel is flush and secure along all edges.

Reassembly

1. Verify all trim panels are properly seated with no gaps or loose clips
2. Confirm no tools or parts were left inside the door cavity before closing door
3. Test mirror power folding function several times to ensure proper operation and clearance

Verification

• Perform final functional test of all mirror features with vehicle running: adjustment, folding, and heating
• Visually inspect mirror alignment from driver's seat to ensure proper positioning for rearward visibility
• Check that mirror housing is firmly mounted with no movement or vibration when door is closed firmly
• Verify blind spot monitoring warning lights function properly during test drive if equipped
• Confirm no electrical warning messages appear on instrument cluster related to mirror functions
