This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the factory subwoofer in the 2017 Maserati Levante, typically located in the cargo area or under rear seats depending on audio system configuration.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake

5. Prepare workspace with clean towels to protect interior surfaces

Procedure

   Remove cargo floor and access panels
   Lift cargo floor panel from rear cargo area. Remove side trim panels in cargo area using trim removal tools, starting from the bottom edge and working upward. Release retaining clips carefully to avoid breakage. The subwoofer is typically mounted in the left side cargo panel or under the cargo floor depending on audio package.

   Locate and access subwoofer assembly
   Identify the subwoofer housing, which is a large speaker enclosure typically 8-10 inches in diameter. Note the routing of wiring harness from amplifier to subwoofer. Take photos for reference during reassembly.

   Disconnect subwoofer electrical connector
   Press the release tab on the electrical connector and pull straight out to disconnect the subwoofer from the audio system wiring harness. If connector has security screws, remove them first.

   Remove subwoofer mounting fasteners
   Remove the mounting bolts or screws securing the subwoofer assembly to the vehicle body. Typically 4-6 fasteners are used. Support the subwoofer weight while removing the final fastener to prevent dropping.

   Extract subwoofer from enclosure
   Carefully remove the subwoofer assembly from its mounting location. Note orientation and any foam gaskets or weather seals around the mounting surface. Inspect mounting area for damage or corrosion.

   Inspect and prepare mounting location
   Clean mounting surface and ensure all clips and fastener threads are intact. Inspect wiring harness connector for corrosion or damage. Replace any damaged mounting hardware or weather seals.

   Install new subwoofer assembly
   Position new subwoofer in mounting location, ensuring proper orientation matches original installation. Align mounting holes and ensure any foam gaskets are properly seated. Start all mounting fasteners by hand before tightening.

   Connect electrical connector
   Reconnect the electrical connector to the subwoofer, ensuring it clicks fully into place. If equipped with connector screws, install and torque to specification. Verify connector lock engages properly.

    Reinstall trim panels and cargo floor
    Reinstall all cargo area trim panels, ensuring all clips engage properly. Replace any broken clips. Reinstall cargo floor covering and verify all panels fit flush without gaps or rattles.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all trim panel clips are fully seated before pressing panels into place
2. Verify no wiring is pinched between trim panels and body structure
3. Test all cargo area features including tie-downs and storage compartments for proper operation

Verification

• Play audio through full frequency range and verify subwoofer produces bass without distortion
• Check for rattles or vibrations in cargo area at high volume levels
• Verify no warning lights on instrument cluster after battery reconnection
• Confirm all trim panels are secure and properly aligned
• Test subwoofer fade and balance controls through infotainment system
