Power Window Regulator - Front

Remove and replace the front power window regulator assembly, including door panel removal, window glass detachment, and regulator installation.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait minimum 15 minutes for airbag system discharge
3. Lower window to approximately mid-height position for access
4. Prepare clean workspace for door panel storage to avoid scratching trim

Procedure

   Remove door panel lower trim components
   Remove the door pull/armrest cover using plastic trim tools. Remove T25 Torx screws behind the cover (typically 2 screws). Remove the speaker grille using trim tools and disconnect speaker connector if necessary for access.

   Remove door panel fasteners
   Remove all T25 and T30 Torx screws securing door panel perimeter (typically 6-8 screws around edges). Remove the door handle trim bezel by carefully prying with trim tool. Disconnect door handle Bowden cable by sliding cable end out of handle mechanism.

   Disconnect electrical connections and remove door panel
   Carefully lift door panel upward to disengage top retaining clips. Disconnect all electrical connectors: window switch module, door lock switch, ambient lighting, and any other connectors. Remove door panel and set aside on protected surface.

   Remove vapor barrier access
   Carefully peel back vapor barrier film enough to access window regulator mounting bolts and motor. Use caution not to tear barrier; if necessary, carefully cut and plan to reseal with OEM adhesive strips. Create access windows at regulator mounting points.

   Secure window glass in raised position
   If window is not fully up, manually raise glass to top position. Secure window glass using masking tape to door frame or wedge carefully to prevent dropping. This is critical before disconnecting regulator.

   Disconnect window glass from regulator
   Locate the two bolts securing window glass to regulator carrier (accessed through holes in door frame). Remove the two 10mm bolts holding glass to regulator lift mechanism. Carefully support glass weight while removing final bolt.

   Disconnect regulator motor electrical connector
   Locate window regulator motor on lower section of door. Depress connector locking tab and disconnect electrical connector from motor. Ensure connector is moved clear of regulator removal path.

   Remove window regulator assembly
   Remove the mounting bolts securing regulator to door frame (typically 3-4 bolts, 13mm heads). Note exact positioning and orientation of regulator for installation reference. Carefully maneuver regulator assembly out through large access opening in door frame, tilting as necessary to clear obstructions.

   Install new window regulator
   Position new regulator assembly into door frame through access opening, matching original orientation. Align all mounting holes with door frame. Install and hand-tighten all regulator mounting bolts, then torque to specification in cross pattern.

    Connect motor and attach window glass
    Connect electrical connector to new regulator motor until it clicks. Remove window glass support tape. Lower glass into channel and align mounting holes with regulator carrier. Install and torque glass mounting bolts to specification.

    Test regulator operation before reassembly
    Temporarily reconnect battery negative terminal (torque to specification). Test window operation through full travel up and down multiple times. Verify smooth operation without binding or unusual noise. Check auto-up and auto-down functions if equipped. Disconnect battery again before final reassembly.

    Reinstall vapor barrier and door panel
    Reseal vapor barrier using OEM adhesive strips if disturbed, ensuring complete seal. Reconnect all electrical connectors to door panel switches and components. Position door panel and engage top clips, then press firmly around perimeter. Reinstall all door panel fasteners and torque cover screws to specification. Reconnect door handle cable.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect battery negative terminal and torque to 6.0 Nm to avoid terminal damage
2. Initialize window one-touch function: raise window fully and hold switch for 2 seconds, lower fully and hold for 2 seconds
3. Verify all door panel switches and functions operate correctly
4. Check door panel fit and alignment, ensure all clips are fully seated

Verification

• Test window movement through complete range multiple times, confirming smooth operation
• Verify one-touch auto-up and auto-down functions work correctly
• Check that window seals properly at top position without gaps
• Confirm no unusual noise, binding, or slow operation during window movement
• Verify all door panel switches and components function properly
• Check that door panel is secure with no rattles or loose trim pieces
