Remove and replace the radio antenna mast or base assembly on a 2007 Ram 3500.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn ignition off
2. Retract power antenna fully if equipped by turning radio off
3. Determine if replacing mast only or complete base assembly

Procedure

1. 1

   Access antenna base
   The antenna is located on the right front fender. For mast-only replacement, no interior access is needed. For base replacement, you will need to access the underside of the antenna base from within the right front fender cavity, which may require removing the inner fender liner or accessing from the engine bay side.

   Remove antenna mast
   Unthread the antenna mast by turning counterclockwise. If replacing mast only, the mast unscrews from the base. For fixed mast antennas, use the appropriately sized wrench on the base nut while holding the mast to prevent spinning (verify nut size against OEM documentation). Remove the mast completely and set aside.

   Remove interior trim panel (base replacement only)
   If replacing the complete base assembly, access the antenna base from within the right front fender cavity. Remove the inner fender liner fasteners as needed using a panel trim tool to expose the antenna base mounting nut and cable connection inside the fender area.

   Disconnect antenna cable (base replacement only)
   Locate the antenna cable connector attached to the base of the antenna assembly. Press the release tab and pull the coaxial cable connector straight off the antenna base terminal. Note the routing of the cable for reinstallation.

   Remove base mounting hardware (base replacement only)
   From inside the fender cavity, use the correct-size wrench or socket to remove the mounting nut securing the antenna base to the fender (verify size against OEM documentation). Hold the antenna base from the outside to prevent it from spinning. Remove the nut, washer, and base gasket.

   Remove antenna base assembly (base replacement only)
   From the exterior, carefully pull the antenna base assembly up and out through the fender hole. Remove the old gasket from the fender surface and clean the mounting area with a shop towel to ensure proper seal for the new gasket.

   Install new base assembly (base replacement only)
   Place the new base gasket on the fender surface around the antenna mounting hole. Insert the new antenna base assembly through the hole from the exterior, ensuring the gasket seats properly. The cable connection should be oriented toward the interior for easy access.

   Secure base assembly (base replacement only)
   From inside the fender cavity, install the washer and mounting nut onto the antenna base threads. Hand-tighten the nut while holding the base from spinning on the exterior. Snug the nut with a 7/16" wrench, being careful not to overtighten and crack the base or compress the gasket excessively.

   Connect antenna cable (base replacement only)
   Push the coaxial cable connector firmly onto the antenna base terminal until it clicks into place. Ensure the connection is secure and the cable is routed properly without kinks or sharp bends.

    Install antenna mast
    Thread the antenna mast into the base assembly by turning clockwise. Hand-tighten the mast fully until it seats against the base. Do not use tools to tighten the mast as this can damage the threads. Ensure the mast is vertical and secure.

    Reinstall interior trim (base replacement only)
    If the A-pillar trim panel was removed, align the panel with the mounting points and press firmly to engage all retaining clips. Start at the top and work downward, ensuring all clips are fully seated.

Reassembly

1. Ensure antenna mast is threaded completely and sits vertical
2. Verify all interior trim panels are secured with clips fully engaged
3. Check that antenna base gasket is properly seated with no visible gaps

Verification

• Turn on radio and test AM/FM reception quality across multiple stations
• Verify antenna mast is secure and does not wobble or vibrate
• Check for water leaks around antenna base after car wash or rain
• For power antennas, verify mast extends and retracts properly when radio is turned on and off
