Armrest

This procedure covers removal and replacement of the driver or passenger side door armrest on a 2007 Ram 3500.

• Trim panel clips × 5 — Replacement clips as needed

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Open the door fully to access all fasteners and clips
3. Inspect armrest for damage type to confirm correct replacement part is available
4. If working in cold weather, allow interior to warm up to reduce clip breakage

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove door pull handle cover
   Locate the small cover plate at the front of the door pull handle. Use a trim panel tool or small flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry the cover from its clips. Set aside the cover and clips for reinstallation.

   Remove door pull handle fasteners
   Behind the removed cover, locate and remove the two Torx screws securing the door pull handle assembly. These screws secure the handle to the door panel structure. Keep screws organized for reinstallation.

   Remove power window switch assembly
   Insert a trim panel tool at the rear edge of the power window switch bezel. Carefully pry upward to release the clips securing the switch assembly. Lift the switch assembly partially out, then disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and gently pulling it straight off the switch. Set switch assembly aside in a safe location.

   Remove armrest mounting screws
   Locate the Torx screws at the bottom of the armrest pocket or storage area (commonly T25/T30 on this platform — verify size). Remove the fasteners found at the lower edge of the armrest. Remove both screws completely and set aside.

   Remove door panel lower fasteners
   Along the bottom edge of the door panel, locate and remove any additional Phillips screws or Torx fasteners that secure the lower door trim panel. On the 2007 Ram 3500, remove any screws found along the bottom edge and verify all lower fasteners are removed before releasing clips.

   Release door panel clips
   Starting at the bottom corner, use a trim panel removal tool to carefully disengage the plastic push clips securing the door panel to the door frame. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing each clip. Release each push clip around the perimeter, confirming the actual count as you work. Pull gently outward while releasing clips to avoid breaking them.

   Lift and remove door panel
   Once all clips are released, lift the entire door panel assembly upward approximately 2 inches to disengage it from the window sill rail. Carefully pull the panel away from the door frame. Check for any remaining electrical connections or rods before fully removing the panel.

   Remove armrest from door panel
   With the door panel removed and accessible, locate the fasteners securing the armrest to the back of the door panel. Remove the screws or bolts that attach the armrest bracket to the door panel structure, noting the quantity and locations for reassembly. Carefully separate the armrest from the panel.

   Install new armrest
   Position the new armrest onto the door panel in the exact location of the original. Align all mounting holes and install the fasteners finger-tight first to ensure proper alignment. Once aligned, tighten all armrest mounting fasteners securely but do not overtighten plastic components.

    Reinstall door panel assembly
    Replace any broken clips with new ones in the door panel. Reconnect any electrical connections or door lock rods. Position the door panel onto the door, engaging the top edge with the window sill rail first. Lower the panel into place, then firmly press around the perimeter to seat all push clips. Ensure all clips are fully engaged.

    Reinstall fasteners and switches
    Reinstall all screws along the bottom edge and armrest area. Reconnect the power window switch electrical connector and press the switch assembly firmly into place until clips engage. Reinstall the door pull handle screws and replace the decorative cover.

Reassembly

1. Test all door functions including window operation, power locks, and interior door handle before closing door
2. Verify all trim pieces are secure and properly seated with no gaps
3. Check that armrest is firmly attached and does not flex or move excessively

Verification

• Confirm armrest is solidly mounted with no excessive movement or flexing
• Verify all door panel clips are engaged by gently pulling on panel edges
• Test power window and lock switches for proper operation
• Open and close door using interior handle to ensure proper function
• Inspect door panel perimeter for uniform gaps and proper alignment
