Carpet

Complete removal and replacement of the cab carpet in a 2007 Ram 3500, requiring removal of seats, center console, trim panels, and floor components.

• Replacement carpet kit × 1 — OEM or aftermarket cab carpet kit specific to crew/quad/regular cab configuration
• Carpet retaining clips × 10 — Use OEM specification
• Door sill trim clips × 8 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait 10 minutes minimum
3. Remove all floor mats and personal items from cab
4. Take photos of seat positions, wiring routing, and trim panel locations
5. Identify cab configuration (regular, quad, or crew cab) to ensure correct carpet kit

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove front seats
   Slide each front seat fully rearward. Remove the four bolts securing each seat track to the floor (verify fastener drive type and size against factory service information for your seat configuration). Disconnect electrical connectors under seats for power seats, heated seats, and seat belt pretensioners if equipped. Carefully lift and remove seats from vehicle. Label connectors if necessary for reinstallation.

   Remove rear seats (crew/quad cab)
   For crew cab: Lift bottom cushion up and forward to release from retaining clips. Remove the bolts securing the seatback hinges to the cab wall (verify quantity against factory service information for your cab configuration). Disconnect any electrical connectors and remove seatback. For quad cab: Fold seats up and remove hinge bolts. Remove seats from vehicle.

   Remove center console
   Remove shift knob if manual transmission (the G56 shifter knob may be retained by a set screw or threaded; remove per configuration). Remove storage tray and cupholder inserts. Remove screws securing console (typically 4-6 screws under rubber mats and in storage areas). Disconnect any electrical connectors for power outlets or switches. Lift console up and over shifter, then remove from vehicle.

   Remove door sill trim plates
   Remove screw caps on door sill plates at all four doors. Remove screws securing sill plates. Carefully pry up sill plates starting at one end, releasing retaining clips. Work slowly to avoid breaking clips. Remove all door sill trim pieces and set aside.

   Remove kick panels and A-pillar trim
   Remove lower kick panels on both sides by pulling firmly to release clips. Remove plastic A-pillar trim covers by pulling at bottom and working upward to release clips. Be careful near headliner edge. Disconnect any dome light or grab handle connectors if present.

   Remove B-pillar and C-pillar trim (crew/quad cab)
   Remove seat belt anchor bolts at B-pillar and any pillar trim. Carefully pry B-pillar trim covers away from pillar to release clips. For crew cab, remove C-pillar trim covers similarly. Remove rear seat belt anchor bolts if necessary for carpet access.

   Disconnect parking brake and floor shifter components
   The parking brake is a foot-operated pedal at the far left of the driver footwell; disconnect or reposition the parking brake cable/mechanism only as needed for carpet clearance. For manual transmissions, remove shifter boot retaining ring and slide boot up shifter. For automatics, remove shifter cable clip at base if necessary for carpet clearance.

   Remove floor-mounted components
   Remove any floor-mounted brackets, ground straps, or wiring harness clips attached to floor. Remove hood release cable retaining clips from floor area. Disconnect any floor-mounted electrical components or switches if equipped. Remove any sound deadening pads or insulation that will interfere with carpet removal.

   Remove old carpet
   Starting at rear of cab, carefully pull carpet away from floor, working forward. The carpet will be routed under pedal assemblies, parking brake mechanism, and through shifter area. Cut carpet around pedal brackets if necessary for removal. Remove all old adhesive, foam backing, and debris from metal floor using scraper and solvent. Vacuum floor thoroughly.

    Prepare and fit new carpet
    Lay new carpet flat in sun or warm area to remove creases if possible. Position carpet in cab starting from firewall, working rearward. Route carpet under pedal assemblies, around parking brake mechanism, and through shifter opening. Ensure carpet aligns with all floor contours and seat mounting locations. Trim shifter opening if necessary for proper fit.

    Secure new carpet
    Install carpet retaining clips along edges and in corners where carpet meets floor pan. Press carpet firmly into place along all floor contours. Ensure carpet lays flat under all seat mounting points with no bunching or interference. Apply adhesive or double-sided tape at high-wear areas if desired, particularly at pedal area and door sills.

    Reinstall floor-mounted components
    Reinstall hood release cable clips, wiring harness brackets, ground straps, and any floor-mounted switches or components removed during disassembly. Reconnect parking brake cable if disconnected. Ensure all wiring is properly routed above carpet and secured.

    Reinstall trim panels
    Reinstall A-pillar, B-pillar, and C-pillar trim pieces, ensuring all clips engage properly. Install kick panels on both sides. Install door sill plates at all doors, aligning with carpet edge. Install screws and screw caps on sill plates. Ensure trim pieces are flush and secure.

    Reinstall center console and shifter components
    Route console over shifter and position on floor. Reconnect any electrical connections for power outlets or switches. Install console mounting screws in proper locations. Replace cupholder inserts and storage tray. Reinstall shift boot and knob if equipped with manual transmission.

    Reinstall seats
    Position rear seats (if applicable) and secure seatback hinge bolts. Reconnect electrical connectors and install bottom cushion. Position front seats in cab, aligning tracks with floor mounting holes. Reconnect all electrical connectors under each seat. Install four seat track mounting bolts per seat and tighten securely. Slide seats through full range of motion to verify proper operation.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect negative battery cable
2. Cycle ignition on and off to clear any airbag system codes if present
3. Test all seat adjustments including power controls if equipped
4. Verify all trim panels are secure and properly aligned
5. Test seat belt operation and ensure pretensioners reconnected properly
6. Check that parking brake operates smoothly with no carpet interference
7. Verify shifter operates through all gears without binding on carpet

Verification

• Inspect carpet edges at all door sills for proper fit and no gaps
• Check that carpet does not interfere with pedal operation, parking brake, or shifter movement
• Verify all seats are securely mounted with no movement or looseness
• Confirm all electrical functions work properly (power seats, heated seats, interior lights)
• Ensure no airbag warning lights remain illuminated on dash after reconnecting battery
• Test all doors for proper closing without carpet interference at sill areas
• Verify carpet is smooth and flat with no bunching under seats or at pedals
