Fog Light Bulb

This procedure covers the replacement of fog light bulbs on a 2007 Ram 3500 4wd with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine.

• Fog light bulb × 1 — H10 12V 42W halogen bulb (verify vehicle specific fitment)

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off engine
2. Turn off all lights and allow fog lights to cool for at least 10 minutes if previously operated
3. Engage parking brake

Procedure

1. 1

   Access fog light assembly
   Locate the fog light housing in the front bumper. Depending on model, you may need to reach behind the bumper from the wheel well area or from below the vehicle. On most 2007 Ram 3500 models, access is easiest by turning the steering wheel fully to the side corresponding to the bulb being replaced and reaching through the inner fender well opening.

   Disconnect electrical connector
   Reach behind the fog light housing and locate the electrical connector attached to the bulb socket. Press the release tab or twist-lock (depending on connector type) and pull the connector straight off the bulb socket. Do not pull on the wiring harness itself.

   Remove bulb socket
   Grasp the bulb socket at the rear of the fog light housing. Rotate the socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (usually 45-90 degrees) until it releases from the housing. Pull the socket and bulb assembly straight out of the housing.

   Remove old bulb
   The bulb may be a twist-lock style or pull-out style depending on the socket design. If twist-lock, rotate the bulb counterclockwise and pull out. If pull-out style, gently pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for any corrosion or damage.

   Install new bulb
   Using a clean cloth or gloves to handle the new bulb, insert it into the socket. If twist-lock style, insert and rotate clockwise until it locks. If pull-out style, push firmly until it seats completely in the socket. Ensure the bulb is securely seated.

   Reinstall bulb socket
   Insert the socket with the new bulb back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs. Rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Gently tug on the socket to verify it is secured.

   Reconnect electrical connector
   Push the electrical connector onto the bulb socket until you hear or feel it click into place. Ensure the connection is fully seated and secure.

Reassembly

1. No disassembly required for this procedure

Verification

• Turn on the vehicle ignition without starting the engine
• Activate the fog lights using the fog light switch
• Visually confirm both fog lights are illuminating properly
• Check for proper beam pattern and that the light is aimed correctly
• Turn off fog lights and ignition
