Preparation

Procedure

Access driver side headlight assembly
Access the driver side headlight bulbs from the rear of the headlight assembly. On many 2007 Ram trucks the entire headlight assembly is released and pulled forward for bulb access; verify whether your assembly uses a rear access cover or requires removal of the assembly retainers before proceeding.

Remove driver side bulb access cover
Rotate the access cover counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn and pull it straight back away from the headlight assembly. Set the cover aside in a clean location.

Disconnect driver side electrical connector
Locate the electrical connector attached to the back of the headlight bulb. Press the release tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect it from the bulb. Allow the connector to hang freely.

Remove driver side headlight bulb
The bulb is held by a wire retaining clip. Press the wire clip inward toward the bulb and rotate it upward to release tension, then pull the bulb straight out of the housing. Handle the old bulb carefully and dispose of properly.

Install new driver side headlight bulb
Using a clean cloth or wearing lint-free gloves, remove the new bulb (9005 high-beam or 9006 low-beam as applicable) from its packaging. Insert the bulb into its socket/housing with the tabs aligned to the slots. Push firmly until fully seated and lock it in place using the correct retention method for your assembly (twist-lock or wire retaining clip).

Reconnect driver side electrical connector
Push the electrical connector onto the back of the new bulb until it clicks into place. Ensure the connection is secure by gently pulling on the connector.

Reinstall driver side access cover
Align the tabs on the access cover with the slots on the headlight housing. Push the cover in and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place.

Replace passenger side headlight bulb
Repeat steps 1 through 7 for the passenger side headlight assembly. The procedure is identical to the driver side, with the bulb access cover, electrical connector, retaining clip, and bulb removal/installation being the same process.

Reassembly

Ensure both headlight access covers are fully seated and locked in place
Verify all electrical connectors are firmly attached with no exposed terminals

Verification

Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine and activate headlights to verify both low beams illuminate
Activate high beams to verify both high beams function properly
Turn on parking lights to verify all functions work correctly
Inspect for proper beam pattern alignment on a flat surface or garage door
