Preparation

Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake

Procedure

Remove front grille (if needed for access)
On some Ram 3500 models, removing the grille provides better access. Use trim removal tools to release the clips along the top edge of the grille, then pull firmly to disengage lower clips. This step may be optional if you have sufficient working room.

Access driver side headlight assembly
Locate the two 10mm bolts securing the top of the headlight assembly. These are accessible from the engine bay above the headlight housing. Remove both bolts and set aside.

Release headlight assembly retaining pin
Locate the spring-loaded retaining pin on the outboard side of the headlight assembly near the fender. Pull the pin straight out while compressing the spring mechanism. The headlight assembly should now be loose.

Disconnect wiring harness from driver side headlight
Carefully pull the headlight assembly forward to access the rear wiring connector. Press the release tab on the 9007 (HB5) bulb connector and pull straight back to disconnect. If equipped, also disconnect the side marker light connector.

Remove driver side headlight assembly
With all fasteners and connectors released, carefully pull the entire headlight assembly forward and away from the vehicle. Note the alignment tabs and sealing surfaces for reinstallation.

Install LED module into driver side housing
If using a complete LED assembly, proceed to installation. If retrofitting LED bulbs into existing housing, unlock and remove the factory 9007 (HB5) bulb by releasing its retaining tab/clip and pulling it straight out of the keyed socket. Reinstall driver side headlight assembly
Apply dielectric grease to electrical connectors if desired. Connect the LED headlight wiring harness and side marker connector. Guide the headlight assembly into position, aligning the locating tabs with the body mounting points. Ensure proper seating before securing.

Secure driver side headlight
Install the spring-loaded retaining pin on the outboard side until it clicks into place. Install the two 10mm mounting bolts at the top of the assembly and tighten securely by hand, then snug with ratchet. Do not overtighten plastic mounting points.

Repeat procedure for passenger side
Follow steps 2 through 8 for the passenger side headlight assembly. The process is identical, though access may differ slightly due to engine bay components on the Cummins diesel.

Reconnect battery and test headlights
Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine. Test low beams, high beams, and turn signals to verify proper LED module function. Check for any error codes or dashboard warnings.

Reinstall grille and verify alignment
If grille was removed, align the lower clips and press firmly until seated, then secure upper clips. Verify headlight assemblies are flush with surrounding body panels and properly aligned. Close hood.
