Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake firmly
  2. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels

    Install the new O-ring seal onto the new neutral safety switch. Lightly coat the O-ring with clean ATF+4 to aid installation and prevent damage during insertion. Verify the switch plunger and O-ring sealing surface are in good condition before installation.

    Thread the new switch into the transmission case by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten to specification. The internal plunger is actuated by the transmission's manual valve mechanism when in Park/Neutral.

    Install the retaining bolt(s) and tighten by hand first to ensure proper threading. Tighten the bolt securely using a torque wrench.
