Remove and replace the interior rearview mirror on a 2007 Ram 3500, including detaching from the windshield mounting button.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Allow vehicle interior to cool if parked in direct sunlight
3. Identify mirror type (manual or auto-dimming with electrical connector)

Procedure

   Disconnect electrical connector if equipped
   If your mirror has auto-dimming, compass, or temperature display features, locate the electrical connector at the base of the mirror arm. Press the tab and disconnect the wiring harness before proceeding with removal.

   Remove mirror cover or set screw
   Most Ram mirrors have a small cover at the base where the mirror attaches to the windshield button. Use a flathead screwdriver or trim tool to gently pry off this cover. Some models may have a small Allen or Phillips set screw instead - remove if present.

   Release mirror from mounting button
   For the 2007 Ram 3500 mirror, loosen the set screw at the base of the mirror mount (if present), then slide the mirror bracket upward off the windshield button.    Inspect windshield mounting button
   Examine the mounting button still attached to the windshield. If it is loose, damaged, or you need to reposition it, carefully heat it with a heat gun or hairdryer for 1-2 minutes, then twist and pull to remove. Clean any remaining adhesive from windshield using isopropyl alcohol and a plastic scraper.

   Prepare new or existing mounting button
   If reusing the existing button and it is firmly attached, clean the button surface with isopropyl alcohol. If installing a new button, follow the adhesive kit instructions: clean windshield area thoroughly, apply adhesive to button, position on windshield at original location (typically aligned with center of vehicle), and allow to cure per adhesive manufacturer specifications (usually 15-30 minutes).

   Install new mirror assembly
   Align the new mirror mounting bracket with the windshield button. Slide the mirror bracket down onto the windshield button until fully seated, then tighten the set screw at the base to secure the mirror in position.

   Reconnect electrical connector
   If equipped with auto-dimming or other electrical features, reconnect the wiring harness to the mirror until the connector clicks into place. Ensure wiring is not pinched or hanging loosely.

   Replace cover and adjust mirror
   Snap the base cover back into place over the mounting area. Adjust mirror to proper viewing angle for the driver. Test any electrical features such as auto-dimming, compass calibration, or temperature display.

Reassembly

1. Ensure mounting button adhesive has fully cured before driving if button was replaced
2. Verify all electrical connectors are properly seated and no wiring is exposed

Verification

• Gently attempt to move mirror up and down to confirm it is securely locked to mounting button
• Verify mirror can be adjusted through full range of motion without binding
• Test auto-dimming and other electrical features if equipped by turning ignition to ON position
• Check that mirror provides clear rearward visibility from driver position
