Sun Visor

This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the driver or passenger sun visor in a 2007 Ram 3500.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Allow headliner area to cool if vehicle has been in direct sunlight
3. Identify whether visor has illuminated vanity mirror (requires electrical disconnect)

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove visor cover cap
   Locate the plastic cover cap at the mounting bracket near the windshield header. Carefully pry off the cover cap using a trim removal tool or carefully with a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in tape to avoid scratching. The cap snaps off and may have a small tab on the rear edge.

   Remove visor mounting bracket screws
   Using a Phillips screwdriver (verify fastener type against OEM specification, as some may use Torx), remove the two screws securing the visor mounting bracket to the roof header panel. Keep these screws organized as they will be reused. Support the visor with one hand while removing the final screw.

   Disconnect electrical connector (if equipped)
   If the visor has an illuminated vanity mirror, locate the electrical connector behind the mounting bracket. Press the tab on the connector and gently pull apart to disconnect. Allow the connector to hang freely from the headliner wiring.

   Remove visor from auxiliary mounting clip
   Rotate the visor toward the side window. If equipped with an auxiliary mounting clip near the center of the windshield or side pillar, slide the visor arm out of the clip bracket. The visor should now be free from the vehicle.

   Install new visor into auxiliary clip
   Position the new visor arm into the auxiliary mounting clip bracket if equipped. Ensure the visor rotates smoothly and the arm is fully seated in the clip.

   Connect electrical connector (if equipped)
   If the new visor has an illuminated vanity mirror, route the wiring through the mounting bracket area and connect the electrical connector to the vehicle harness. Push firmly until you hear a click, confirming the connection is secure.

   Install visor mounting bracket
   Position the visor mounting bracket against the roof header panel, aligning the screw holes. Install the mounting screws (verify Phillips or Torx type against OEM specification) and tighten them evenly. Tighten screws snugly but do not overtighten as this can crack the plastic bracket or damage the headliner board.
8. 8

   Install cover cap
   Snap the plastic cover cap back into place over the mounting bracket. Press firmly around all edges until the cap is flush and fully seated.

Reassembly

1. Ensure all mounting screws are tight and the visor does not wobble when moved
2. Verify electrical connector is fully seated if visor has illuminated vanity mirror
3. Check that cover cap is securely snapped in place with no gaps

Verification

• Rotate the visor through its full range of motion from windshield to side window position, ensuring smooth operation
• Test the illuminated vanity mirror if equipped by opening the mirror cover and verifying the light functions
• Verify the visor stays in position when moved and does not sag or fall
• Check that the visor properly blocks sunlight when positioned in front of the driver or passenger
