Wiper Blade Replacement

This procedure covers the removal and installation of windshield wiper blades on a 2007 Ram 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Ensure wiper arms are in the parked position at base of windshield
3. Purchase correct replacement blades - 2007 Ram 3500 uses 22-inch blades for both driver and passenger sides with hook-style arm connectors

Procedure

1. 1

   Lift driver side wiper arm
   Grasp the wiper arm near the base and pull it away from the windshield until it locks in the raised service position perpendicular to the glass. The spring tension will hold it in place.

   Release driver side blade from arm
   Locate the small tab or release mechanism on the underside of the blade assembly where it connects to the hook-style wiper arm. Press or lift the tab while pulling the blade assembly downward along the arm toward the base. The blade should slide off the hook.

   Install new driver side blade
   Align the new blade connector with the hook on the wiper arm. Slide the blade assembly upward onto the hook until you hear or feel a distinct click indicating the locking tab has engaged. Gently tug the blade to confirm it is securely locked in place.

   Lower driver side wiper arm
   Carefully guide the wiper arm back down to the windshield. Do not let it snap down as this can damage the new blade or windshield. Control the arm descent with your hand against the spring tension.

   Replace passenger side wiper blade
   Repeat the same process for the passenger side: lift the arm to service position, release the old blade by pressing the tab and sliding downward, install the new blade by sliding upward onto the hook until it clicks, and carefully lower the arm back to the windshield.

   Remove protective covers
   Remove any plastic protective covers or packaging from the new wiper blade rubber elements before testing.

Reassembly

Verification

• Turn ignition to accessory position and activate wipers at low speed to confirm both blades move smoothly without chattering or binding
• Spray windshield washer fluid and run wipers through several cycles to verify proper contact and cleaning across entire windshield surface
• Inspect both blades to ensure they are seated flush against the glass with no gaps or lifting at the edges
• Verify both blades are securely locked to arms with no looseness or rattling
