This procedure programs the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors to the vehicle's control module after tire rotation, replacement, or sensor replacement on the 2022 Rivian EDV 500.
Warnings
⚠Ensure vehicle is on level ground and in PARK before beginning TPMS relearn procedure
ℹ️All tires must be inflated to the correct pressure listed on the driver door jamb placard before initiating relearn
⚠Do not perform TPMS relearn while vehicle is charging or connected to charging equipment

Parts
- TPMS sensor (if replacing damaged sensor) × 1 — Use OEM Rivian TPMS sensor
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
- Ensure vehicle is in PARK mode and fully powered down for at least 2 minutes
- Check all four tire pressures and inflate to specification on door jamb placard (typically 42 PSI front/rear for EDV 500)
- Verify 12V battery voltage is above 12.4V to prevent system interruption during relearn
- Ensure all TPMS sensors are installed and functioning (no physical damage to valve stems)
- Have all new TPMS sensor IDs available if sensors were replaced
Procedure
- 1Power on vehicle systemsEnter the vehicle and press the brake pedal. Press the power button to turn the vehicle to RUN mode without starting the drive system. Verify the instrument cluster is fully illuminated and all systems have initialized (approximately 30 seconds).
- 2Access Service Mode via infotainmentOn the center touchscreen, navigate to Settings > Vehicle > Service Mode. If prompted, enter the service PIN (default is usually 1234 or available through Rivian Service documentation). Select 'Tire & Wheel' from the service menu options.
- 3Select TPMS relearn functionWithin the Tire & Wheel service menu, select 'TPMS Sensor Relearn' or 'TPMS Programming'. The system will display current sensor status for all four positions plus spare if equipped. Review sensor IDs currently stored in the system.
- 4Verify tire pressures on-screenThe display will show current tire pressures as detected by existing sensors. Confirm all four readings are present and match your physical gauge readings within 2 PSI. If any sensor shows '--' or 'No Signal', that sensor may need replacement or have a dead battery.
- 5Initiate automatic relearn sequenceSelect 'Begin Auto Relearn' on the touchscreen. The system will prompt you to confirm tire positions. The vehicle will enter TPMS relearn mode for 15 minutes. The instrument cluster will display a TPMS indicator light flashing to confirm relearn mode is active.
- 6Activate left front sensorUsing the TPMS scan tool, activate the left front (driver front) TPMS sensor by positioning the tool against the tire sidewall near the valve stem. Trigger the sensor to transmit its ID. The vehicle will confirm reception with a horn chirp or visual confirmation on the screen. Wait for confirmation before proceeding.
- 7Activate right front sensorMove to the right front (passenger front) wheel and repeat the activation process with the TPMS scan tool. Position the tool near the valve stem and trigger the sensor. Wait for horn chirp or screen confirmation that the sensor ID has been captured.
- 8Activate right rear sensorProceed to the right rear (passenger rear) wheel. Activate the TPMS sensor using the scan tool positioned near the valve stem. Confirm the vehicle acknowledges the sensor transmission before moving to the final wheel.
- 9Activate left rear sensorComplete the sequence at the left rear (driver rear) wheel. Activate the TPMS sensor with the scan tool and wait for confirmation. The system should indicate that all four sensors have been successfully learned.
- 10Complete relearn processReturn to the driver's seat. The touchscreen should display 'TPMS Relearn Complete' or similar confirmation message. Select 'Finish' or 'Exit' to save the new sensor configuration. The TPMS warning light on the instrument cluster should turn off within 10 seconds.
- 11Exit Service ModeNavigate back through the Service Mode menus and select 'Exit Service Mode'. The system will return to normal operation mode. Power off the vehicle completely by pressing the power button.
- 12Perform verification drivePower the vehicle back on and drive at speeds above 20 MPH for at least 10 minutes. Monitor the instrument cluster to ensure no TPMS warning lights illuminate and that individual tire pressures display correctly on the screen. Make gentle turns and straight driving to allow all sensors to transmit multiple times.
Reassembly
- No disassembly was required for this procedure
Verification
- Confirm TPMS warning light is off on the instrument cluster after driving
- Verify all four tire pressure readings display correctly on the infotainment screen and match physical gauge readings within 2 PSI
- Check that tire position indicators on screen match actual tire locations (LF, RF, RR, LR)
- Use TPMS scan tool to read sensor IDs and confirm they match the IDs now stored in the vehicle system
- Drive vehicle for several days and verify TPMS warnings do not reappear and pressure readings remain accurate
- If TPMS light returns or pressure readings are erratic, repeat relearn procedure or check for faulty sensors
