Windshield Washer Fluid — 3.5 qt

Preparation

Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
Open hood and secure in raised position
Disconnect 12V auxiliary battery negative terminal and wait 2 minutes for system discharge
Remove driver side front wheel well liner fasteners to access reservoir area
Place drain pan beneath work area to catch spilled washer fluid

Procedure

Remove front bumper cover lower section
Remove the Torx fasteners securing the lower front bumper cover section on the driver side. There are typically 4-6 T25 or T30 fasteners. Carefully pull the lower cover section away to access the washer reservoir mounting area behind the bumper.

Disconnect washer pump electrical connector
Locate the washer pump electrical connector on the bottom of the reservoir. Press the locking tab and carefully pull the connector straight off the pump terminals. If corroded, use electrical contact cleaner before disconnecting.

Disconnect washer hoses
Locate the rubber hose connecting the reservoir to the washer nozzles. Squeeze the quick-disconnect collar or slide the spring clamp back with needle nose pliers, then pull the hose off the pump outlet. Allow fluid to drain into the pan. If a check valve is present, note its orientation for reinstallation.

Remove reservoir mounting bolts
Locate and remove the reservoir mounting bolts using a 10mm socket. The EDV 500 typically has two mounting bolts at the upper bracket and one at the lower support. Support the reservoir with one hand while removing the final bolt to prevent it from falling.

Extract reservoir from mounting location
Carefully maneuver the reservoir out of its mounting location. It may be necessary to tilt or rotate the reservoir to clear surrounding components and frame members. Watch for any remaining electrical connectors or ground wires that may still be attached.

Transfer washer pump to new reservoir
