This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the front turn signal bulb on a 2024 Rivian EDV 500, requiring access through the headlight assembly.
Warnings
⚠The Rivian EDV 500 uses high-voltage electrical systems. Do not attempt to access any orange-colored cables or connectors.
⚠The front turn signal is an integrated LED module, not a traditional bulb. Replacement requires the entire LED assembly.
ℹ️Rivian recommends disconnecting the 12V auxiliary battery before performing electrical component work to prevent system fault codes.

Preparation
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake
- Ensure the vehicle is in Park mode and power is off
- Disconnect the 12V auxiliary battery located in the front compartment (negative terminal first)
- Allow the vehicle electrical systems to fully discharge for 5 minutes
- Open the front trunk (frunk) to access the headlight assembly mounting points
- Photograph connector orientations before disconnection for reassembly reference
Procedure
- 1Remove front wheel well liner (partial)Turn the steering wheel fully to the opposite side of the work area. Remove the plastic push clips securing the front portion of the wheel well liner using the trim removal tools. Fold back the liner to expose the rear edge of the headlight assembly.
- 2Access frunk interior panelFrom inside the frunk, locate the interior side panel on the side corresponding to the turn signal being replaced. Remove the T25 Torx fasteners (typically 4-6 fasteners) securing the panel. Carefully pull the panel away to expose the rear of the headlight assembly.
- 3Disconnect headlight harnessLocate the main headlight wiring harness connector at the rear of the headlight assembly. Press the release tab and pull the connector straight back to disconnect. The turn signal connector is typically integrated into this main harness on Rivian vehicles.
- 4Remove headlight assembly mounting fastenersRemove the upper mounting bolts (typically two 10mm bolts) accessible from the frunk area. Remove the lower mounting bolt accessible from the wheel well area. Note the location of any alignment shims or adjustment brackets.
- 5Extract headlight assemblyCarefully pull the headlight assembly forward and out of the mounting location. The assembly is keyed and will only come out in one orientation. Support the assembly weight to prevent dropping it or stressing the remaining connections.
- 6Access turn signal module rear coverWith the headlight assembly removed, locate the rear access cover for the turn signal section. This is typically secured by a quarter-turn lock or twist-lock mechanism. Rotate counterclockwise and remove the cover.
- 7Disconnect turn signal LED moduleLocate the turn signal LED module connector inside the headlight housing. Press the locking tab and disconnect the module. On Rivian vehicles, this is typically a white or gray connector with a secondary lock that must be released first.
- 8Remove turn signal LED module mountingRemove the retaining screws or clips securing the LED module to the headlight reflector housing. These are typically T20 Torx screws (usually 2-3 fasteners). Carefully extract the LED module from its mounting position.
- 9Install new turn signal LED modulePosition the new LED module into the headlight housing, ensuring proper alignment with the reflector and lens. Install the retaining screws or clips and tighten securely but do not overtighten plastic components. Verify the module is seated flush and the gasket (if present) is properly positioned.
- 10Reconnect turn signal module connectorConnect the LED module connector to the headlight housing harness. Ensure the secondary lock engages fully. Verify the connection is secure by gently tugging on the connector.
- 11Reinstall turn signal access coverPosition the rear access cover and rotate clockwise until it locks into place. Ensure the seal is properly seated to maintain the headlight housing weatherproofing.
- 12Reinstall headlight assemblyCarefully guide the headlight assembly back into the mounting location, ensuring alignment tabs engage properly. Install the lower mounting bolt from the wheel well area, then install the upper mounting bolts from the frunk area. Hand-tighten all bolts first, then tighten in a cross pattern to ensure even seating.
- 13Reconnect headlight harnessConnect the main headlight wiring harness by pushing the connector firmly until the locking tab clicks into place. Verify the connection is secure.
Reassembly
- Reinstall the frunk interior side panel with all T25 Torx fasteners
- Reinstall the wheel well liner and secure all plastic push clips
- Reconnect the 12V auxiliary battery (positive terminal first, then negative)
- Close the frunk and verify all panels are properly secured
Verification
- Turn the vehicle to Accessory mode and test the turn signal function on both sides to ensure proper operation
- Verify the turn signal indicator on the dashboard illuminates correctly
- Check for any warning lights or fault codes on the instrument cluster
- Perform a walk-around inspection to verify the turn signal brightness and color match the opposite side
- Test the hazard light function to confirm both front turn signals operate simultaneously
- If available, use the Rivian mobile app or onboard diagnostics to verify no electrical system faults are present
