Preparation

  1. Park on level ground, place in P, engage the parking brake.
  2. Exit ALL doors with the key fob away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.
  3. Disconnect the 48V low-voltage battery per Tesla service procedure (Cybertruck uses a 48V architecture, not 12V — connectors and disconnect points differ from S/3/X/Y).
  4. DO NOT touch, cut, or pierce ANY orange cable — these are high-voltage and lethal.
  5. If at any point you encounter an orange cable, an HV component, or are unsure if a system is de-energized: STOP and consult a Tesla-certified technician.
  6. Enter Service Mode / Jack Mode on the center touchscreen before disconnecting low-voltage power, so the air suspension is locked at ride height and will not actuate.
  7. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground, then raise the front of the truck at the manufacturer-specified jack points and support on rated jack stands.

    Using a flare-nut/line wrench, loosen and disconnect the hydraulic hard line from the top of the brake hose. Catch dripping fluid in the drip pan. Cap or plug the open hard line immediately to prevent contamination and air ingress.
    Use a line wrench — open-end wrenches will round the soft fitting hex.

    Copper crush washers are single-use. Reusing old washers will cause leaks.

    Withdraw the hose from any remaining routing clips or grommets. Compare the old hose to the new replacement: length, end-fitting orientation, and locating tab position must match exactly.

    Place a new copper washer on each side of the banjo fitting (one between bolt head and fitting, one between fitting and caliper). Thread the banjo bolt by hand to avoid cross-threading, ensuring the hose's anti-rotation tab seats in its locator. Torque the banjo bolt to specification.
    Verify the hose does not twist as the banjo bolt is tightened; a twisted hose will fatigue and fail.

    Top off the master cylinder reservoir with fresh DOT 3 brake fluid. Bleed the corner that was serviced via the caliper bleeder screw using a pressure or vacuum bleeder, or a two-person pedal-bleed method, until clear bubble-free fluid flows. Maintain reservoir level above MIN throughout. Torque the bleeder screw on closing.
    Use only fresh, sealed DOT 3. Do not substitute DOT 5 silicone fluid.
    ℹ️If air may have entered the ABS/iBooster module, a full system bleed using Tesla diagnostic tooling may be required to actuate the ABS valves.

Reassembly

  1. Verify reservoir is filled to MAX with fresh DOT 3 fluid and cap is secure.
  2. Check for leaks at the banjo fitting and the upper line fitting by having an assistant apply firm pedal pressure while you inspect each joint.
  3. Reinstall the front wheel. Snug lug nuts by hand, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
  4. Torque the wheel lug nuts in a star pattern to specification.
  5. Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery.
  6. Exit Service/Jack Mode via the touchscreen and allow the air suspension to re-level.

Verification

  • With the vehicle stationary and brakes pumped to a firm pedal, inspect both ends of the new hose for any seepage after 5 minutes.
  • Check the touchscreen for any brake-system or ABS warnings; clear or address as needed before driving.
