Parts

  • Front bumper cover × 1 — 52119-06F40 or aftermarket equivalent
  • Trim clips assortment × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Fender liner clips × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
  3. Turn steering wheel to full lock position (either direction) for easier wheel well access
  4. Open hood and disconnect negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts
  5. Allow vehicle to sit for 5 minutes after battery disconnect
  6. Raise front of vehicle and support securely on jack stands
  7. Remove both front wheels for access to fender liner fasteners

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove fender liner fasteners
Working in the driver side wheel well, remove the plastic screws and push clips securing the front portion of the fender liner to the bumper cover. Remove approximately 4-6 fasteners per side. Pull the fender liner back gently to expose the bumper mounting points behind it. Repeat on passenger side.

    Fender Liner Screws3 Nm (2 lb-ft)
  2. 2
    Remove lower bumper fasteners
From underneath the vehicle, locate and remove the plastic screws along the bottom edge of the bumper cover. There are typically 8-10 screws across the lower bumper edge. Also remove any plastic splash shield screws that attach to the bumper cover.
    Torque spec
    Cover Screws11 Nm (8 lb-ft)
  3. 3
Remove upper grille and hood latch area fasteners
Open the hood. Remove the plastic push clips securing the upper grille to the bumper cover - typically 6-8 clips across the top. Gently pry upward with a trim tool to release each clip. Remove any Phillips screws in the upper bumper area near the hood latch.
    Torque spec
    Grille Clips5 Nm (4 lb-ft)
  4. 4
    Disconnect fog light connectors
If equipped with fog lights, reach behind the bumper cover on each side and disconnect the electrical connectors. Press the tab on each connector and pull straight back. Route the connectors through the bumper openings to prevent damage during removal.
ℹ️Label connectors with tape if you are unfamiliar with their locations for easier reinstallation
  5. 5
    Disconnect parking sensor connectors
If equipped with parking sensors (typically 4 sensors in the front bumper), disconnect each electrical connector by pressing the release tab. The sensors usually remain mounted in the bumper cover during removal. Keep track of which sensor plugs into which location.
Parking sensor wires are delicate - do not pull on wires, only on connector housings
  6. 6
    Remove bumper side mounting bolts
Through the wheel well openings on each side, locate the 10mm bolts securing the bumper cover to the fender and frame. There are typically 2-3 bolts per side accessed from the wheel well area. Remove these bolts completely.
    Torque spec
    Bumper Cover Bolts10 Nm (7 lb-ft)
  7. 7
    Disconnect washer nozzle hoses
If the bumper cover has integrated washer nozzles, gently pull the washer fluid hoses off the nozzles. The hoses have barbed fittings and pull straight off. Have a shop towel ready to catch any dripping washer fluid.
ℹ️Note the routing of washer hoses for proper reconnection during installation
  8. 8
    Remove bumper cover from vehicle
With all fasteners and connections removed, carefully pull the bumper cover straight forward away from the vehicle. Start from one corner and work around, ensuring all clips have released. The cover is held by approximately 6-8 plastic clips along the top edge that snap into the core support. Pull firmly but steadily to release these clips. Have a helper support the opposite end to prevent the cover from falling.
Check one final time that all electrical connectors and fasteners are removed before pulling cover free
  9. 9
Transfer components to new bumper cover
If installing a new bumper cover, transfer all components from the old cover including fog lights, parking sensors, grille components, washer nozzles, and any mounting brackets. For fog lights and sensors, remove the retaining rings or clips and carefully push them out from the front.
    Torque spec

  10. 10
Install new or repaired bumper cover
Position the bumper cover in front of the vehicle at the correct height. Align the side edges with the fenders and push the cover rearward, ensuring the upper plastic clips engage with the core support. You should hear or feel them snap into place. Align the mounting holes on each side.
ℹ️Do not force the cover - if it does not align easily, pull back and check for obstructions or misalignment
  11. 11
    Reconnect all electrical connections
Reconnect fog light connectors and parking sensor connectors to their respective components. Ensure each connector clicks firmly into place and is fully seated. Reconnect washer nozzle hoses by pushing them firmly onto the barbed fittings.
ℹ️Verify each sensor connector matches the correct sensor location if they were labeled during removal
  12. 12
    Install side mounting bolts
Through the wheel well openings, install the bumper cover side mounting bolts and hand-tighten. Do not fully torque until all fasteners are started to allow for alignment adjustment.
    Torque spec
    Bumper Cover Bolts10 Nm (7 lb-ft)
  13. 13
    Install all remaining fasteners
Install the lower bumper screws along the bottom edge, the upper grille clips, and all fender liner fasteners. Work systematically around the bumper to ensure no fasteners are missed. Replace any broken clips with new ones. Once all fasteners are started, torque the side mounting bolts to specification, then torque all screws to their specified values.

    Trim Clips3 Nm (2 lb-ft)

Reassembly

  1. Reinstall both front wheels and torque lug nuts to specification (80 lb-ft for this vehicle)
  2. Lower vehicle from jack stands
  3. Reconnect negative battery terminal
  4. Inspect bumper cover alignment with fenders and hood - gaps should be even on both sides
  5. Check that all trim pieces and grille components are fully seated and secure

Verification

  • Walk around vehicle and visually inspect all panel gaps for proper alignment
  • Test fog lights if equipped to verify electrical connections are secure
  • Test parking sensors if equipped by turning ignition to ON and verifying no warning lights
  • Test windshield washer function if nozzles are mounted in bumper cover
  • Gently pull on bumper cover at multiple points to ensure it is securely fastened with no loose areas
  • Check that all clips and fasteners are installed and nothing is loose or rattling
