Parts
- Door lock actuator assembly × 1 — 69120-06180 (driver) or 69110-06180 (passenger)
- Door panel clips (assorted) × 5 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Open the door to be serviced completely
- Raise window to fully closed position
- Gather all tools and new parts before beginning
- Take photos of door panel before removal for reference during reassembly
Procedure
- 1Remove door panel screwsRemove the Phillips screw inside the door pull handle recess. Remove the screw behind the interior door handle trim cover by carefully prying the small trim cover away. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the door panel, typically 2-3 screws total.
- 2Disconnect door handle and controlsCarefully pry up the switch panel containing the power window and lock switches using a trim tool. Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling straight up. Set the switch panel aside in a safe location.
- 3Release door panel clipsUsing a panel removal tool, work around the perimeter of the door panel to release the retaining clips. Start at the bottom rear corner and work forward, then up the sides. Pull the panel outward firmly but gently once all clips are released. There are typically 8-10 clips around the perimeter.
- 4Remove door panelLift the door panel upward to disengage it from the window sill channel, then pull it away from the door. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors for courtesy lights or speakers. If equipped with a speaker in the door panel, disconnect the speaker connector. Set the panel aside on a protected surface.
- 5Remove vapor barrier accessCarefully peel back a section of the plastic vapor barrier to access the door lock actuator. The actuator is typically located mid-door behind the latch assembly. Only remove enough barrier to access the actuator mounting bolts and connector. Use masking tape to secure the barrier out of the way.
- 6Disconnect actuator electrical connectorLocate the door lock actuator electrical connector. Press the release tab and disconnect the connector from the actuator. Note the routing of the wiring harness for reinstallation.
- 7Disconnect actuator rod linkageLocate the actuator control rod connecting the actuator to the door latch mechanism. Carefully pop the rod end off the actuator arm by pressing the retaining clip and pulling the rod away. Note the orientation and position for reassembly.⚠Do not force the linkage rod; use proper technique to release the clip to avoid breaking plastic components.
- 8Remove actuator mounting boltsRemove the three mounting bolts securing the door lock actuator to the door structure using a 10mm socket. Support the actuator as you remove the final bolt to prevent it from falling into the door cavity. Remove the actuator from the door.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 9Install new actuatorPosition the new door lock actuator in the door and align the mounting holes. Install the three mounting bolts finger-tight first, then torque to specification using a torque wrench. Ensure the actuator is seated properly against the mounting surface before final tightening.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 10Reconnect linkage and electricalReconnect the control rod to the actuator arm, ensuring the retaining clip fully engages. Connect the electrical connector to the actuator, listening for the click that confirms full engagement. Verify the wiring harness is routed properly and not pinched.
- 11Test actuator operationBefore reassembling the door panel, turn the ignition to ON position and test the door lock operation using both the interior switch and key fob. Verify the actuator cycles properly in both lock and unlock directions. Listen for smooth operation without binding or unusual noise.
- 12Reinstall vapor barrierPress the vapor barrier back into position, ensuring all edges are properly sealed to the door frame. If the adhesive is compromised, use weatherstrip adhesive to reseal any loose sections. Proper sealing prevents moisture intrusion and wind noise.
- 13Reinstall door panelReconnect all electrical connectors for speakers and courtesy lights. Position the door panel at the window sill and slide it down into the channel. Align the panel with the door and press firmly around the perimeter to engage all retaining clips. Ensure all clips snap into place securely.
- 14Install panel screws and switchesInstall all door panel screws and tighten securely but do not overtighten to avoid stripping the plastic threads. Reconnect the switch panel electrical connector and press the switch panel firmly into place until it clicks. Install any trim covers removed earlier.
Reassembly
- Verify all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
- Check that door panel is flush and all clips are engaged
- Ensure no rattles or loose components when gently shaking the door
- Verify vapor barrier is properly sealed around all edges
Verification
- Test door lock operation from interior switch - should lock and unlock smoothly
- Test door lock operation from key fob - verify both lock and unlock functions work
- Test door lock operation from driver's door switch (if testing passenger door)
- Listen for smooth actuator operation without grinding or binding noises
- Verify interior door handle operates properly and door opens from inside
- Check that exterior door handle operates correctly
- Confirm all door panel switches function properly
- Test window operation to ensure no interference with door panel
- Verify no wind noise or water leaks after reinstallation
