Parts
- Side mirror assembly (left or right) × 1 — Use OEM specification
- Door trim panel clips (if broken) × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition to OFF position and remove key
- Open the driver or passenger door (whichever side mirror is being replaced)
- Roll down the window slightly for easier access if needed
Procedure
- 1Remove door trim panel speaker coverUsing a trim removal tool, carefully pry off the triangular speaker cover at the front upper corner of the door panel where it meets the mirror. Start at the rear edge and work forward. This cover snaps into place with clips. Set aside in a safe location.
- 2Disconnect mirror electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector behind the speaker cover area. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight out to disconnect it from the mirror assembly. If equipped with multiple connectors (for power folding, heating, or blind spot monitoring), disconnect all connectors. Note the routing of the wiring harness for reassembly.
- 3Remove mirror mounting boltsUsing a 10mm socket and ratchet, remove the three bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These bolts are accessed through the opening where the speaker cover was removed. Support the mirror from the outside with your other hand to prevent it from falling once the bolts are removed.
- 4Remove mirror assembly from doorWith all three mounting bolts removed, carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door. Guide the wiring harness through the door opening to completely separate the mirror from the vehicle. Be careful not to scratch the door paint during removal.
- 5Install new mirror assemblyFeed the wiring harness of the new mirror through the door opening from outside to inside. Align the mirror base with the three mounting holes on the door frame. Hold the mirror in position from the outside while preparing to install the bolts.
- 6Install and torque mirror mounting boltsThread in all three mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment. Once all bolts are started, use a torque wrench to tighten each bolt in a cross pattern to ensure even pressure. Torque all three bolts to specification.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 7Reconnect electrical connector(s)Connect the electrical connector(s) to the mirror assembly, ensuring each connector clicks firmly into place. Verify the locking tab engages properly. Route the wiring harness as noted during disassembly to avoid pinching.
- 8Reinstall speaker cover trim panelAlign the triangular speaker cover with the door panel and mirror area. Ensure all clips are properly positioned, then press firmly around the perimeter until all clips snap into place. Verify the cover sits flush with the surrounding trim.
Reassembly
- Ensure all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
- Verify the speaker cover trim panel is flush and all clips are engaged
- Check that no wiring is pinched or visible between panels
Verification
- Turn the ignition to ON (engine off) and verify mirror power adjustment works in all directions
- If equipped, test the mirror heating function and turn signal indicator
- If equipped with power folding, test the fold and unfold operation
- Visually inspect the mirror to ensure it is securely mounted with no movement or vibration
- Check that all trim panels are properly seated and aligned with no gaps
