Warnings
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
⚠Sway bar is under tension when vehicle is on the ground. Only disconnect when vehicle is raised and suspension is unloaded.
ℹ️Inspect all sway bar links and bushings during this repair. Replace if worn, cracked, or torn.

Parts
- Front stabilizer bar × 1 — 48818-06180 or aftermarket equivalent
- Stabilizer bar bushings × 2 — 48815-06100 (pair)
- Stabilizer bar link (if damaged) × 2 — 48820-06050 (each side)
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts while vehicle is on ground (do not remove)
- Raise front of vehicle with floor jack at designated jacking points
- Support vehicle securely on jack stands placed at front subframe rail locations
- Remove both front wheels completely
Procedure
- 1Access sway bar linksLocate the sway bar links connecting the sway bar ends to the lower control arms on both sides. Spray fasteners with penetrating oil if corroded and allow to soak for a few minutes.
- 2Disconnect left sway bar linkOn the left side, insert a 6mm Allen key into the top of the sway bar link shaft to hold it from spinning. Using a 14mm socket, remove the upper nut connecting the link to the sway bar. Remove the link from the sway bar end. Note the orientation of washers and bushings for reinstallation.
- 3Disconnect right sway bar linkRepeat the disconnection process on the right side. Insert a 6mm Allen key into the link shaft and remove the upper nut with a 14mm socket. Separate the link from the sway bar. Both ends of the sway bar are now free.
- 4Remove sway bar bracket boltsLocate the two sway bar mounting brackets on the subframe, positioned near the center of the vehicle. Each bracket is secured with one or two bolts. Using a 14mm socket, remove all bracket mounting bolts. The sway bar brackets will come loose but the bar is still captured.
- 5Remove sway bar brackets and bushingsRemove both mounting brackets from the sway bar. Note the orientation of the brackets and the split bushings inside them. The bushings have a split opening that faces toward the rear of the vehicle. Remove the old bushings from the sway bar and inspect for wear, cracking, or tearing.
- 6Remove sway bar from vehicleCarefully maneuver the sway bar downward and toward one side to clear the subframe and other components. The bar may need to be rotated or angled to remove it from the vehicle. Take note of routing and clearances for reinstallation.
- 7Clean and inspect mounting locationsUse a wire brush to clean the sway bar mounting areas on the subframe where the brackets attach. Inspect the mounting surface for damage or corrosion. Clean the sway bar itself where the bushings will mount, removing any rust or debris.
- 8Install new or cleaned sway barPosition the new or serviced sway bar into the vehicle, routing it through the subframe area. Ensure the bar is centered with equal length extending to both sides. The bar should sit naturally in the approximate location of the mounting brackets.
- 9Install new bushings and bracketsInstall new stabilizer bar bushings onto the bar with the split opening facing rearward. Position the mounting brackets over the bushings and align with the bolt holes in the subframe. Start all bracket bolts by hand to ensure proper threading.
- 10Torque sway bar bracket boltsUsing a torque wrench and 14mm socket, tighten the sway bar bracket bolts to specification. Torque in a crisscross pattern if multiple bolts per bracket. Verify both brackets are seated flush against the subframe.Torque specSway Bar Bracket Bolts47 Nm (35 lb-ft)
- 11Reconnect sway bar linksOn both sides, reconnect the sway bar links to the sway bar ends. Ensure all washers and bushings are in their correct positions as noted during removal. Start the upper nuts by hand onto the link shafts.
- 12Torque sway bar link nutsHold each link shaft with a 6mm Allen key to prevent spinning. Using a torque wrench with 14mm socket, torque the sway bar link nuts to specification on both sides. Verify the bushings are not twisted or binding.Torque specSway Bar Link61 Nm (45 lb-ft)
- 13Reinstall wheelsMount both front wheels and start all lug nuts by hand. Lower the vehicle until the wheels just contact the ground but the suspension is not yet loaded.
- 14Final torque and lower vehicleTorque the wheel lug nuts to specification in a star pattern using a torque wrench. Remove the jack stands and fully lower the vehicle to the ground. Perform a final verification of all fasteners.Torque specWheel Lug Nuts136 Nm (100 lb-ft)
Reassembly
- All fasteners have been torqued to specification during the procedure steps
- Verify sway bar links move freely without binding when suspension articulates
- Double-check that both sway bar bracket bolts are properly torqued and brackets are secure
Verification
- Bounce each front corner of the vehicle to verify proper sway bar operation and no unusual noises
- Perform a test drive at low speed and verify no clunking or rattling from the front suspension
- Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock while stationary and verify no interference or binding
- Visually inspect all connections after test drive to ensure nothing has loosened
